RFC Europe Files

well its an old laptop I use and their aren't much video memory. I don't have probs with regular leaderheads and the new leaderheads are fine although the are loading rather slowly.

oh, and by the way good job on those leaderheads. They look terrific especially Burgundy:goodjob:

We borrowed them all, and sorry, but video memory is the problem. Since the new leaders are pits and pieces put together from old leaders, the game has to load more stuff in memory and I suppose that is what crashes the game.

Alpha 3 is available at the first post.

It doesn't have all the changes I was hoping for, but we will have more next time.

Maybe we can add a "vanilla" version: minimum graphic & sound & other extra stuff, in order to help players with less memory and slower computer, focus on core gameplay.

Alpha 4 is now out. This week again I could not find the time to do all the changes that I wanted, but we still have something. Most importantly, the new colonies were added.

There is also a light version inside the zip (it takes a few kb so it makes no difference to put in). Basically the light version changes the leaderhead graphics to the standard civ IV graphics and thus requires less graphics.

Unfortunately next week I will not be able to work on the mod. I have to go to a conference. Alpha 5 will have to wait.

So when are Dynamic civ names going to be implemented? I hope to see them sometime soon as I really like that feature from RFC :)

Changes I made to the Carpathian Basin (according to my Atlas, the map of the economy of Europe in the middle ages, and a map of economy of Europe in centuries XV.-XVII):
-added rivers: Drava and Maros
-corrected river Tisza (somehow it was cut shorter than it is)
-reduced dense forests in Transylvania, put the two tile mountains one tile norther,
added another salt in Trans., and a gold to the south of it
-put a gold next to the copper on the north
-put a cow on the east
-took away the coal in Trans, put it to the hill near the Danube
-made Balaton a one tile coast and the other tile became a marsh (like Kis-Balaton in fact)
-added marshes next to the Tisza (it had many marshes in the past)
-added a wine north to the Balaton, a wine next to the Tisza around the place of the honey, I took the honey away
-added a cow to a south tile of the big cross of Pest, took the pig away
-added some hills
What do you all think?
EDIT: I forgot the file

Before extracting, put cut and past it in the MODS. Extract it their. I hope this will work. (It does for me.)

Another way is unzip it directly into My Games/Civ4/BTS/Mods, having already deleted any previous RFC Europe version. Open Public Maps and send it to desktop, creating a shortcut, and you're ready to play.:)

Unless operafantom removed the starting units for Burgundy and France, those now start with double the units. There are also some team relations, civics and names that also need to be changed. I will do it for the next alpha, but right now keep the above in mind when playing.

I think I corrected the doubled units, and made some other changes as well (tried to make river Tisza better) and I made the city names map for that (only the Hungarian one), in the previous city names map I made a mistake, I corrected it, and tried to make it better again.
Do you all like it?

doesnt work: when u click it: it shows the loading thing, but doesnt continue (u would normally see the [Init Python] etc... and then after a few mins it says : Sid Meiers Civ 4 BTS has stopped working..

this doesnt work either: i cant extract it in mods: theres like a thousand error messages...

any other ideas?? want to play this during the winter hols :p

maybe u got some other mods loaded by default, like bug mod in the "my games"/"bts" folder. just create a new bulk bts folder there for rfce, cause it may cause the crash.

where do i create the bulk file? i need to know everything about how to do this, because itll make things a lot easier instead of having to assume where everything should go: btw: what version rfceurope is this?: ie: is it able to run on the original BTS (without patches) or do i have to update BTS before rfceurope can work?

Thank you its very much appreciated. :goodjob:

lol: sorry for this again: but i can get in now, excpet it cant read the worldbuilder file... also: (this is probably related) but i have to go back (bottom left corner: of screenshot) and load a map to get the list of civs that i could play: and when i do so: its almost finished loading and the thing screws up and ive got this message: Sid Meiers BTS has stopped working..

can someone please tell me the specifications required to run this mod? ie: bts v 3.19 etc...

The only requirement that I can give is BtS 3.19. Other than that, you probably need good CPU + at least 2GB ram to get things running smoothly. However, I am sure that people play the mod with less than that.

I was out of town and I could not look at your comments. It seems there is an error in the installation of the mod. You can try to reinstall it (i.e. delete the RFCEurope folder and then put in the new one extracted from the .zip file available at the first post of the tread).

If this doesn't work, the questions are: do regular BtS and RFC work? What happens if you double-click on the file in RFCEurope/Public Maps/RFCEurope.WBsave. What ahppens if you load BtS normally and then go to Play Scenario and try to load RFCEurope?

If those do not work, post details on your system specifications and most importantly the OS that you use (i.e. Windows XP or Windows Vista or Mac OS or whatever).
