It seemed that some people were using extremely commonly known acronyms in a thinly veiled attempt at defending the position that my annoyance at the use of extremely obscure acronyms was irrational. It was either that, or people were making fun of the general overuse of acronyms on the Internet, but given the "most people know DLC" bit, the former seemed more likely.
