RFCEurope 1.0

Merijn, somehow I'm getting troubles when PAK-ing big files (100+ megabytes)
Not sure what's wrong ATM, so I didn't make a new FPK after my LH changes, just uploaded it uncompressed
Whenever you have some time, could you PAK it back?

It's easier for me if you remove all just uploaded LH art that you didn't change. I only need the new files and it will save me a lot of time if I only have to download the new files.

I can't do it myself, because if I want to delete them, I first have to download them. If you do it, I won't download the files I don't need.

EDIT:
I think I found a way that I can removed files I didn't even download. So it's enough if you tell me which files you changed.

Hmm, I changed a lot of files, paths, textures, and whatever else.
Sometimes even the file sizes are the same, but they were changed nevertheless
I changed something in almost all of the folders, and didn't make a detailed log of it
(I didn't know then that I will have problems with PAK-ing the file)
So unfortunately, I cannot tell you exaclty which files were changed
That's why I uploaded it this way...

Is it that slow for you to dowload the ~195 MB LH art?
If yes, I will try to come up with another solution, and make the fpk myself...
(I would really want to avoid separating the changed files and paths from the unchanged ones)

Maybe I know the problem. Is it possible that you also added the .svn folder? In there, there is a copy of all files. That may be the reason why the FPK is so big.

Sry, I meant ~185 megabytes
And no, I always handle my art updates separately from the RFCE folder
Actually the Leaderheads.FPK was ~200 megabyte, and I reduced it to ~185 megabyte with this update

A quick solution would be if I separate the leaderheads.fpk into 2
I can easily PAK 2 *90 megabyte fpks
Would that be better?

Alright, found out the pak-ing problem
I can even compile the 185 megabyte file now
But the question remains: Should I make a big leaderhead FPK, or separate it to smaller parts?

Never mind. I will download the files and see if I have the same problems.
Don't bother, check my last post
Also, found a small problem in the new Mindaugas, I will be fixing that anyway
Should I upload a single leaderheads.fpk, or separate it to 2-3 smaller ones?

Yeah, usually I also leave it at 6
Already started uploading a 2 file version
It will probably be easier to handle them this way
Maybe it's even better for performance
If not, I will change it back when next updating the LHs

I don't think it's better for performance. Now the game has to load 2 files, instead of 1. If it changes the performance, it's in a negative way. (but only very, very little)

The reason why all art files aren't a single pack is because it saves uploading time. So that you don't have to upload the whole pack for just 1 button or something. The disadvantage is that you need to manage seperate PAKs at the same time. (although that's not very hard)
If uploading wasn't a problem, it would probably still just 1 big PAK.

No, that's not true.
FPK files are loaded into memory, no matter how much they are split
Separating them into too many small ones is probably bad, but a couple medium sized FPKs can only increase performance
From someone who understands how Civ IV loads file way more than me:

Remember that not everything must be inside FPKs files: things you don't use every time I would not add them there.
They reduce loading time but increase memory usage because a those files are ALWAYS loaded in memory.
Also split them, it's better 2 of 250 MB than 1 of 500 MB. Same concept than Text files (or any XML file merging.)

Having said that, there is probably a very minor difference with the leaderheads.fpk we have here in RFCE
I can merge it back together into a single file next time, if you want me to

Is there a certain reason why I can´t deal cities with my vassals anymore?

This wasn't changed recently
Not all civs want every city you want to give them
I'm not even sure if there are some changes in this behaviour in the mod, or this is from vanilla BtS

Not all civs want every city you want to give them
I know but when I´m talking to one of my vassals the cities aren´t shown on the diplomatic window whilst when I´m in negotiations with "free" civs the cities they don´t want are just coloured in red and unable to select. If I remember right that wasn´t allways the case.

Yes it is but I thought that was new. I played civ5 for longer now and recently (for version 1) returned to the good old stuff;). So maybe just my memory playing a trick on me.
