Rhye's of Civilization - the fastest loading mod Expanded - PART II

Ah good, I shall avoid settling there.....so far I've managed to get one colony in the north-west of the african continent, right on a horse :) And surrounded by Carthaginians :)

I've been playing your great mod for a long while, and let me tell you that these RGCs are a great addition. I didn't take part in the last one, but already started playing the current challange.
I have been doing pretty well so far, and no I am reaching the second checkpoint. I read the objectives again(I intend to take the west route) and noticed that there is a bonus for discovering the Falklands before the 1300's.
There is a problem though, for as far as I can remember from your map and from my geographical knowledge, there are no Falklands in your map. Or am I mistaken? Can you please shed some light?
And another question if I may - where is the spot of new-york?

Thanks

I'm new to this mod, and its fantastic. But I've looked around and cannot find a listing of the UUs, or info on what units "capture" other units. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The Falklands are next to the southern tip of South America.

About the new york thing, you have to found a city called "New Amsterdam" in the NY region. The exact tile is not necessary, there's some tolerance here. If there's a city there or near but too close, you have too raze it.

Thanks for all the help blasphemous, I had a great game last night. I played england and was tradeing left, right and centre. I quickly became the richest and most powerful nation. Unfortunatly this all changed when I was ready to invade France. Takeing into account the idea of building cities next to each other I had about 10 cities on the first island and 2 on Ireland. This slowed down my production massively and I was makeing swordsmen in 10 turns in nearly every city which was slow compared to when I had less cities. How many should I have, if someone can help me take a screen shot I can show you what it looks like? Anyway I landed in France and managed to take 3 cities before I had run out of units. Now I noticed that I wasn't able to defend my cities from attack and had lost lots of ground in the tech department. What is the best way to invade?

A question about one rgc2 malus.

-MALUS: -200pts per each razed or conquered-and-abandoned city in Europe, North Africa and Middle East

How is it possible to control it, who razed a city (the ai or me)?

@Olbas
build the Forbidden Palace to increase your optimal number of citys. That should give you a higher production.

I was wondering the same thing. I guess whoever checks will have to load the .sav file into something like Civ Replay to watch when cities get founded and razed.

I'm trying to find a tool that allows a 100% sure judgments, but even if I don't find it, I've enough confidence in guessing when a city has been razed by the player, using the replay and other tools.

Razing is punished in Europe, Middle East and North Africa because it kills the spirit of this game.
The spirit in fact is: make the choice of your number of cities (1 for the largest bonus, 2, 3, or more than 3, but suffering a high penalty), and then travel the seas and fight far from there.
If you, keeping in mind that you can't control more cities, periodically raze your enemies starting locations instead, the game loses its sense.

@ Olbas- For England I usually build a worker and then a granary followed by another worker. In the first 20 turns or so you will lag behind drastically, but then you will be able to build settlers faster than the AI and will be able to etablish more colonies in Africa faster than the other Euro civs. Also, I would build 4--MAYBE 5--cities in England and one in Ireland. This will cut down on wasted space and raise optimum square useage. I hope this helped!

-> Europe far reaches are the Caucasus, the Urals, and Byzantium (included in Europe).

-> The save game rule is to avoid you foreseeing the future, which can be very useful :)
However, there will probably be an exception. I'll tell you more in detail later.

Thanks for the reply!

So are you saying that I can only save at the designated save points, ie. 300 ad 1300 ad and 1800 ad? Say I had to go somewhere real quick and I needed to save before then, could I do so? Even though it might be before the designated save points? Just what you are saying not to do was exactly what I was proposing to do?

Sorry for all the newbie questions I just want to be extremely sure I understand the contest rules right.

Thank you for you time in replying to my inquiries! :)

Beernuts thanks for the work order, ill give it go soon. Although should I build lots of cities in africa if I want to invade Europe?

You can save when you want, you only have to submit the checkpoints.
Instead, you cannon reload again and again to win some battles you had lost, or to change your previous decision, etc. If I notice 30,40,50 times I'll apply some penalties.

Thanks, I will do that. Again, fantastic work on this Mod.

OK I tried your suggestion beernuts and some things worked out really well but overall I found myself doing no fighting and thats wher I find the most fun. Since it took a long time to build the granery I was delayed in finding new tradeing partners and ended up behind in tech, although I was still quite high up. Another thing I was wondering was which government should I be using? I always get theo monarchy and change to fuedal but this isn't getting me the best money.

Is it ok to use the utility, CivReplay? If it is, you have to save the game often to use the utility correctly.

Why would you use it? Of course not, otherwise you'd see the explored world (no surprise about the shape of the world, but you would know the locations of the cities and the more convenient routes.)

If you use the utility within it called Mapstat, and only use Mapstat, it just shows you what the other Civs have to trade. It just speeds up play, but doesn't allow you to view the world, other than what you have already explored.

Here is the screen in MapStat that is helpful. I don't think it can be cheating. I know it is OK to use it in some of the monthly games, etc.
