Rick´s Battleground

Hi Rick, I read through this thread the other night and was delighted. This looks like massive amounts of fun. I might have to divorce my wife and abandon my son to make time to play it, not to mention get a better computer.

The whole idea took me back to my boyhood days when I used to make fantasy map paintings with loads of detail in them. This is pretty much what you're doing and just reading about it is huge fun. Can't wait to run around out.

I especially like the Cities of Gold and all the animals and putting Gaia with the weather effects/units in is a great move. So congrats on all the inspiration you've been having and long may it flow!

One thing in particular I was wondering about. Further up the thread someone was talking about an expensive ship for returning to a city and disbanding for the shields. Is the AI capable of doing something like this?
 
Many thanks Rambuchan you´ve captured the essence of what i´m trying to create here, the next version 1.3, is even better than this one, of course, don´t divorce your wife or neglect your son lolol :D :cheers:

The ship for capture is barbarian, you can capture it only if you play with Capture Shipments ON, the AI can capture it also, but disbanding it is not advisible (since it is a valuable unit for river crossing), the ideia however is good but i´v only implemented it for Treasure Unit´s that you get when you conquer a City Of Gold, now these are worth capturing and disbanding in a city. Makign it a treasure ship is also a damm good ideia to favor seafaring civilizations and battles over water.

If the AI will actually disband it or not, i have still to test it more, but i´v made it so that it´s only option is to disband it, but i have my doubts.
 
I think I understand what you're saying! One thing that sounds weird (though I've probably misunderstood) - why disband a treasure unit? Don't you get cash and points for running it home?

Oh yeah, another thing: I thought I saw windmills in one of your screenies. Checking back now, I can't see any. All the same, a name came to mind which might offer some inspiration for another element / minigame to put into this, which would fit nicely with various features and ideas you've already got.

I prefered shields over gold here, because of hurry production through whipping for governments that don´t use currency, but i´m thinking of creation diferent type of treasures that will give cash also, thank you for tip :D

Well, the Conquistador unit from Firaxis ain't a million miles off. Though, if you're being really picky, he'd have more armour and a certain sidekick that isn't a dog. Anyway, you can be pretty confident that people who've decided to play your game have active imaginations!

Re-tested the links, they are all working, that message will appear when too many people are downloading files from the megaupload server, retry again at a diferent time please.

I hope you enjoy the scenario and fell free to coment/sugest improvements as i´m going to release newer versions of the scenario from time to time.

just played a bit in your mod and I have few questions

Tried to edit your mod - just add few units for scouting and getting some more barbarian huts and money. When I tried to open my modyfication in game I had info like this - error.. missing files... Palace_Garden... in pediaicons ?
Is it possible to play your mod with our own modifications?
And how can I add fog of war?
And why when I play as a Washington I can see in save files something like this -Washington Debug of American or something like that?
 
Humm, the version of the .biq in the download must have been left in debug mode unfortanelly (noobish mistake), i´ve corrected the .biq and removed the debug mode (its used for moders to test their created scenario, so the map is all visible). Please download the biq file again, on post # 2, thank you, and the game will be with fog of war and normal.

Rick - what's wrong with the time between turns? It take so long - 2 or 3 minutes,sometimes more!!! - on my very fast computer :sad:
It's possible to do something with this?
And still can't upgraded your mod for my own - always the same info about error with Palace Gardens in pediaicon :/

I´m trying to increase game speed on the next version, if you play the game in real time (CRTL+ALT+DEL->Task Manager, right click on the process "civ3conquests.exe" and set priority to real time) and change the animations in preferences to OFF, the game turns should go down to 30 secs IBT.

The palace error is because you need to change the directory you are getting the files from, under scenario in the editor, check to see if the Rick´s Battleground v1.2 directory is there.

Also, don´t add Barbarians, as there are enough barbarians in the world already, i´v removed the barbarian uprising and camps for a reason ;)

No problem, ask what you want anytime, once you open the editor, go to Scenario -> Scenario properties -> Scenario tab -> under the box "Scenario Search Folders" it should be stated:

..\Rick´s Battleground v1.2

Of course i included units and buildings from ..\..\Civ3PTW\Extras\Medieval Japan\;..\..\Civ3PTW\Extras\World War II\, but since some players don´t have these 2 scenarios in PTW that come with the Civ2 complete edition i copied these to the Rick´s Battleground v1.2.

So check if you have at least -> ...\..\Civ3PTW\Extras\Medieval Japan\;..\..\Civ3PTW\Extras\World War II\..\Rick´s Battleground v1.2 folder always.

I tried to lanch but keep getting the Following error::cry:
Missing entry in "text\Pediaicons.txt" ICON_BLDG_Palace_Garden.:confused:

I checked Pediaicons.txt in, there is a entry, so what is up?:eek:
