Riddles II

You never could get to the end. The letter A doesn't appear in any number.

I know this is an old one and it might well have been on here before. If that's the case, then i beg of you to find it inside you to wait a little while before telling us all the answer so someone newish to here can have a go...

A man died and went to Heaven. There were thousands of other people there. They were all naked and all looked as they did at the age of 21. He looked around to see if there was anyone he recognized. He saw a couple and he knew immediately that they were Adam and Eve. How did he know?

They didn't have belly buttons?

Nope. It does indeed appear in a number.:)

Doh! Of course! *begins counting* Ugh, too many letters. How many letters before the "a" in "thousand"?

Five.

Or, if you mean how many numbers can you say with out using an "a", that would be 1000, as Zero has no 'a's either.

:goodjob: The answer is one thousand. Maybe that was worded strange?

One hundred and one?

I guess that is technically correct as well. I got this riddle from a website and they gave the answer as 1,000.

P.S. How do you get "Originally posted by" in your posts?

Go to the original post and hit the 'quote' tab in the top right corner...

Do I assume though that you already do that but it still doesn't work?

A bit of a logical thinking one for you's...

Why is it better to have round manhole covers than square ones?

Square ones have the potential for falling through the hole. Round one's don't.

Okay, here's one I've been saving up.

After a forest fire, the fire fighters were policing the area, making sure the fire was out. As they were searching through thing, one fire fighter found a neoprene glove. A few feet away, another fire fighter found a swimming fin.

As they were discussing this, one of the fire fighters noticed some metal reflecting the sun up in a tree. A ladder was brought over, and it was discovered that there was a scuba diver high up in the tree, his flesh burned off from the fire. An autopsy showed a broken back. This was near the middle of the field, and there was no way the scuba diver could have fallen out of the water and landed on the tree.

How did he get there?

I've actually heard of this happening (one suspects it's an urban myth though...)

I'll let others have a go first...

The square one is over a square hole, and the round one is over a round hole. Both fit perfectly.

Doesn't seem to be too many biting at the moment... was the answer to yours Turner that the SCUBA diver got lifted up out of the ocean by the catcher on the water dropper, then dropped onto the fire? Have you heard of it actually happening?

Not possible, given the filters and what not that are on the hoses. There was a Discovery Channel show on Urban legends, this is one of them. But the holes that suck the water up are too small to suck up a human. And the ones that drop the pail in release from the bottom with a rather small hole. So in theory it could happen, but the systems are designed to prevent it.
