Right of Passage Raping

Here's a linky to some surrounding discussion on Rop Rapes.

However that link, AFAIK, doesn't describe the consequences of an Rop Rape.

The traditional consequences for RoP Rape where there is an explicit ROP agreement signed is that signing future ROPs will be much more difficult/impossible. AI attitude toward you will also take a hit. Of course if you are doing ROP rapes, attitude probably is irrelevant to you. ;)

I do that in the worst way. Particularly in El Justo's Age of Imperialism. I'd get ROP's with every nation, then station usually a half dozen ships per square of open sea lanes in certain choke points (Gibraltar, Panama, Suez, etc). I found that consistently when I did that playing as Germany, the English would always declare war on me after about 15 turns (which normally wouldn't be a problem, but I have like 2 ships defending my cities in the Pacific, England about 20). Without fail. I tried not blocking up the lanes, low and behold, no war with England.

I found that I still had no trouble getting ROP's with nations, however if I moved in and attacked under the protection of them I found I had to pay in the area of about 600-2500 gold to renew a right of passage with the other nations. It's just a matter of money. But in AoI that's just chump change (that's why I like AoI so much, you can have a massive army, max out your science rate and still turn a profit).

Another trick is make RoP and wait 20 turns. Then cancel it manually and strike.
Reputation will not be hit, but next RoP will cost 25(or so) gpt more.
