My brother(13) doesn't like to take care of DVD's so i came up the idea of ripping on the computer so when he brakes them i can burn them on CD. But i don't know how to rip them on to the computer.Please help.

If you have a music program like itunes, just insert the Cd into the drive and usually iTunes will automatically open and ask if you want to copy (import) the songs to your HDD. Say yes and watch it happen.
Couldn't the line be drawn at infringing copyright?
Thankfully getting round copyright restrictions, when you're not infringing copyright, is legal in most of the world - though yes, I believe in the US it's illegal to hold down the shift key...
AIUI, any DVD ripping involves bypassing copyright restrictions, so we can't tell you. Ripping (non-crippled) CDs is fine though.
Which ironically, is the only thing it stops, as illegitamate users simply download copies without copy copy protection.
mdwh covered the rest, there isn't much detail that can be gone into without getting around copy protection, which is present in almost all commercial media.
