Just wondering if anyone knows any sites or servers where I could play Risk?

I know its a copyrighted game, so basically what I'm asking is, does anyone know where I can find a good Risk clone, preferable one that I can play against other humans? Also, what other games would people recommend I try? I'm a fan of Civ, Civ II, chess, Risk, used to play RPG's back in the day (like the Dragon Warrior series). Hit me back with any ideas. Thanks!

I like the 1996 Hasbro game of Risk. It is available for less than $10 these days on discount CD racks, like at superstores, CompUSA, WalMart, etc. It is also available in come "bundled" game CDs. Be sure to download the update from Hasbro. The game is amazingly fun to play, esp. in the extended mode (I like the 180 country 18th century Europe map the best). It has Generals, Fortifications, storms in the oceans that can block water crossings, etc. Very good, IMHO. It is 2D, crisp (not laggy), and almost bug free (unlike most games these days).

I'm not sure about online gaming, though.

Do all those features come with the standard game for $10 and doing the upload? Or are they in Risk II? I had no idea there was an extended mode, or I might have bought to game when it came out.

It has two major modes of play... "Classic", which has variations on the original board game, and "Ultimate", which is the only one I play. It has great maps, and excellent... even massive... gameplay.

You have lots of new, USEFUL features and concepts, and the AI is pretty darned decent.

It also has several modes of Multiplayer, but I have not done the MP. Maybe a game site can comment about MP opinion.

The options are excellent.... levels of play, levesl of graphics, battleboxes, etc. etc.

RISK TWO IS A DOG!!! Risk II is a stunning disappointment, if one has played Risk I. It has only one map. No generals, no variety of gameplay, etc. etc.... The two major thngs it has are inaccurately rendered 3-D battle representions that essentially all look the same after seeing a couple battles, and the ability to have several countries attack one country at the same time.

SKIP RISK 2.... go find Risk (hasbro) or do without.... just my opinion. :)

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into picking it up.

I might look at that update first.
I have not seen it because i lost my copy of ultimate Risk so i do not know if it fixs the major bug in Ultimate Risk or not but you need to see if it does.

The major bug.
The radomly generated armies given to the AI at random turns.
I would play ultimate Risk and would get attacked by multiple three Hundred strong armies with no Generals. These where easy to defeat but it sure did ruin my day to have one of these appear in every enemy country around my nation. Then have them reapper again the next turn or more of them showing up.

You can put a link here. The prolem is when people start threads with the sole purpose of advertising a site. Cool? :)
