Decided to play one game as each leader. Morocco was first alphabetically.

This is an acceptable second city:

Given the number of mountains its not perfect, but im certainly not complaining.

What are some of your best Petra/kasbah cities?

Is that what the song is named after? I actually wondered that when I first saw Morocco had that. :p

When I saw the thread title, I thought that OP was referring to getting the achievement with the same name.

That's a good city.. I had a city sort of like that before..

Nice! My latest game I got a desert folklore petra city with a huge range of desert hills (pretty much only desert hills. One lone mountain, and guess what on the other side? Lake victoria. :) Unfortunately I was not morocco, so I settled for second best and mined the hills. In my case there was some grass too so it worked out. :/ gotta try morocco though. Later went order so those hills were nice!

That's the plot of the song, but it's not "based on a true story."

From Wikipedia:

"The song gives a fabulist account of a ban on rock music by the Sharif or King being defied by the population, who proceed to "rock the casbah." The King orders jet fighters to bomb any people in violation of the ban. The pilots ignored the orders, and instead played rock music on their cockpit radios."

Morocco is amazing, played a game as them in the desert. I assumed the Kasbah wouldn't be that great, because on paper it doesn't sound very good... man was I wrong. Strong civ with a great UB and a nice defensive UU that synergizes well with their UB (they just need to start in the desert!) Grab Desert Folklore and race to Petra, and you're set. Their UA unfortunately is pretty pathetic, one of the less useful ones in the game. In practice you get so little from it that you might as well not even have it. +single digit culture a handful of gold at the end of the game... yay...

The UA is not only bad but also bugged... I rarely get more than 9gpt from the Trade Routes even if I have all 10 set up... The Kasbah is friggin' phenomenal though and I managed to pull off an OCC in a hilly desert on Emperor. My city literally had like 200 Production at the end of the game, and I was first in Manufactured Goods despite going up against whole empires. Will post some screenshots later.

I've had something alike with the Inca, with a whole heap of Desert River Hill tiles flanked by at least 2 mountains each, combined with Petra and Desert Folklore. Glorious didn't even begin to describe it.

The UU though! Just think about the UU!! What strength when in your own deserts! Ridiculous unit.

Now the king told the boogie men
You have to let that raga drop

This line is a reference to the Clash's manager telling them they need to stop with the reggae influence and focus more on rock/pop. The Clash were being groomed to be the world's next biggest act. But, they imploded before it could happen. They Clash headlined the US Festival in 1983, with something like 250,000 people present.
