Romans vs. 19thcentury techs

The Jews and Christians were an exception: They thought that all religions other than themselves were false, and all people who didn't worship their god was going Hell (Christians), or were below them (Jews, with their 'Chosen race'). Things have changed since, of course, but back then, it was like that. All the wars you mentioned above had to do with either Jews or Christians against pagans. I cant think of a single ancient(before 500AD) religious war that the Jews and Christians had no part. Can you?

Off-hand, no, I can't, but I don't know much about ancient wars, so perhaps someone else can illuminate me!

By the way, it is not true that Christians all thought non-Christians were all going to hell. In fact there was quite a strong, though minority, strain of universalism in the early church, and many Christians believed there was much of value in other religions and traditions.

I meant that generally, ancient christians thought that the only way to enter the 'kingdom of god'(heaven), you had to be christian.

I suppose. This thread doesn't really mention he 19th century anymore, so I think its safe to say that its pointless to continue posting here, so im done.
