I had a ROP + alliance with Germany (still valid for 12 turns), allowing me to go through their territory to punish the Byzantins for their behaviour.
Suddenly, when I have a large army in German territory and am close to some nice German cities they declare war on me :crazyeye:

Question do I get a penalty as well, or are only the Germans blamed for this new war.

Needless to say that I took advantage of this not so clever move of the AI by taking over several of their cities.

I think you still get a rep-hit.

I think the AI gets rep hit for ending that deal?

Yeah, should be. But isn't. Any party that has any units in another Civ's territory when war is declared between those two Civs gets a Rep hit. The only rare occasion seems when the AI territory "comes to you"; cultural expansion or culture flips - but you'd have to immediately declare that turn, before the AI Civ gets a movement turn (I'd guess territory violation is checked at end of movement phase, when MPPs are triggered as well, not during production - when culture takes place).

This means that if i have foreign units in my territory, ask the civ to remove them and they declare, they also get a rep hit?

Technically I would say yes. But usually the AI seems to ignore each others rep hits and trade frequently GPT and luxes even though my foreign advisor calls them "liars and cheats".

the AI ignores each others rep somehow so they always trade with each other and try to pass me. its hard to get them to go to war withy each other unless your good at espionage (excuse my spelling).

I usually say, The answer to "do I get a reputation hit?" question is almost always "YES"..

But this one seems WEIRD to me. If you didn't declare war, I think you don't get the penalty. But we all know how "logical" civ3 is in that...

In case you wonder, AI civs are 100% unaffected by reputation AFAICT
