Which is better
Real Time (such as Age of Empiers II and Rise of Nations)
or
Turn Based (Civ)

They are two different styles of gameplay. which is better? you decide
as the battle for best gameplay type rolls on...

This is like asking, which is better, ballpoint or pencil? :p Neither is better than the other, look at Rome:Total War, it uses both brilliantly.

It all depends on the game, and your personal opinion.

I put TBS but I like them both. Things such as Age of Empires 2 kick butt, and since I haven't played Civ 3 (sorry) there are other TBS's like Advanced Wars that are good.

I like RTS very slightly more than TBS. RTS is a lot easier to play in multiplayer, as with TBS what happens is that things get slow and tiring and it's not all that fun anymore.

On a similar note, I like turn-based RPGs slightly more than real-time. No idea why, I just do.

You can't compare them, i love AOE and fire emblem loads but there very different in style.

I like TBS but RTS is for me better
The best is mixed for example Rome: Total War, I love this game

I agree with Silverflame in that TBS's get really boring when it's more than 2 or 3 people. Try playing Advanced Wars where every person has 30 units to shift around. You do your silly little turn, then you must wait 3 more and yea... as you can tell it gets real boring real fast.

Depends on the game, but I think I prefer RTS over TBS. I like 'em both though (otherwise I wouldn't be playing Civ :p)

Always preferred turn based games.

Generally,TBS is alot of strategy and thinking while RTS is more reaction(not that there isn't strategy)

Sorta like chess compared to Pacman.

I used to play alot of Close Combat and found myself getting stiff and sore in the shoulder/neck area.

Another huge factor in RTS is keyboard dexterity...of which I have none ;)

I believe RTS's take more skill because whatever you are doing enemies are doing stuff too. There is also multiple things going on at once, not where it's moving one unit at a time.

CTI leves them both behind.

My preference is definately for TBS. I'm not a mindless RTS clickfest clone.

The only RTS type games I like are those like the Total War series or anything by Paradox games.

I am with Moff Jerjerrod, but I like the Total War series, too.

But even this one became more RTS-style, dumbed down and sped up battles... it is a good blend of RTS and TB however.

I would not say RTS or TB are inherently superior to each other, but most RTS games lack depth, and sadly there are ever fewer TB games today. They are probably too difficult for Joe Average, but is Joe Average really soo ********?

Most here vote turnbased, but still RTS sells better apparently.

CTI standing for?

MFCTI is a third party mission/addon pack for Operation Flashpoint.
In short, it's a FPS RTS flight/car/armor/military tactical sim made chiefly, but not strictly, for multiplayer.

Yeah although most forums would probably have quite a severe bias towards either RTS or TBS games...

If you like RTS games more than you do Civ, drop your membership to the forums and go back under whatever rock you crawled out from! Besides, with RTS games, you're constantly attacked! You barely have time to build up before you are attacked again! There, I said it! BTW, I think that's the Master Sword in Link's hand, Dabomb! It's a superpower blue sword. I know because I have the first appearence of it for GBA.
