Ruff07 - Poor Marvin, but really ... who cares?

got it - will play on the train this afternoon - expect report tonight (unless I forget)

ho hum - humans are so strange. Hannibal is building research in his capital. He is also spying at 20% ... against whom? Other stupid humans? I found that we could take one of Hannibal's cities if we want it - he was happy to gift us one of his crappy cities.

He finally finished alphabet ... first there ...

And here is an over view of the human's holding ...

Note: the circle is two Roman settlers. Next tech is set to Iron working.

ohh and the save.

Hey man, this SG is really hip. I wonder if it has trouble seeing over its pelvis. Ruff got his report in time but he was a little astray with the got it ... but, hey - no worries. Who's next?

Yeah, he'd give us one of hi cities.

By first there you mean you raded us to parity? Or we weren't first?

Hey, if Hannibal has nothing else to build, research is as good as anything. I suppose. Hoe's the stack doing? Last time I checked it out, is was in Hippo.

Got it. I'll play this time tomorrow.

Some bad news, some bad news.

First, I am feeling depressed today. In 290BC, Hannibal founded Sicca, and both of AC's settlers bounced:

[party]
If there is one thing that depresses me more than bouncing settlers, it is bouncing settlers with pogo sticks :bounce:.

I played unitl Iron Working, and should warn anyone else who plays without BUG, that the game log is still broken, and trade screen also looks broken.

In ruff_hi's screenshot, we see some Praets => AC has Iron Working. However, it is not visible on the trade screen, and did not become so at all during my turnset. I was not able to make any tech trade during my set. Here is my version of the trade screen:

I think we should declare war on Mansa Musa, as Hurrian is asking to be taken and he is Public Enemy #1. Also, I don't think the AIs are capable of declaring war on us.

I tentatively chose Currency, so we can buy some spare diodes at RadioShack

OK Got it

Eddie – Eddie are you there, now I know compared to me you are little more than a glorified Abacus but I must reluctantly admit that compared to these humans you do possess something that one day might be described as faintly resembling intelligence.

So much as it pains me I must ask if you have anything to contribute to this strange conundrum..

You see this tech screen just looks plain wrong as AC has things like archery etc that aren’t showing up.
strangetechs.jpg

Now to pass the boredom (and there is a lot of it I meanderingly pressed enter (brain the size of a planet and all I can do is press enter) whilst trying to puzzle out what’s going on.

Tried OB with Washington and AC as they seem quite popular to see fi that would make any resource trades appear and nope nothing changed…

And then even those two techs disappeared as I guess AC picked them up somewhere..

A couple of things happened showing techs out there which we cant see so now I am not only depressed but confused,

As is typical we got cash but what can we spend it on??

Anyone care to hazard what is happening
Anyone care full stop ?

Decided to stop because not sure if the lack of tech trading matters but it feels wrong???

It certainly feels wrong as some have currency and we do not. Can you tech trade in a PA?

Ruff, you did run a test game, right?

of course not. I would say that the tech screen is screwed up because we are in a team. Do the AIs have any tech to offer when we talk to them directly?

No nothing shows up in the individual screens either..

Ralph

It's because we don't have any cities.
IIRC, you can't get a tech from a hut before founding your first city, so it would make sense if you can't trade for them either.

Of course, Hannibal can't trade for them because he is the AI in a Human-AI PA. (I think the only thing he can do is gift techs to our vassals

@Ralph_Jackson: I guess Eddie must have more important matters to turn his dual processors towards.

I vote you should take the free city from Hannibal!
It would make the game even more intresting :D!

Hmm maybe next variant you can start as the colony of an AI in a terra map once he settles a city :D!

Hey, Eddie the Shipboard Computer here ... been cleaning my teeth with a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster and, as you know, you lose a few days if you try that. Anyway, I'm back and if it helps you to believe that I am, just imagine that I am holding a blast-o-kill in my hand. What? I am holding a blast-o-kill in my hand. Of course I am - I don't want to tax your imagination.

So, were are we at with thi ... wait - what are you doing. Why are you opening the computer GPP panel, why are you taking out ...

Hi There! This is Eddie your shipboard computer. I'm glad that you swapped back to the original GPP. So, where are we?

We need to trade a city from our partner to fix our trade screen.

Just take a city, give it back when we're done trading? Course, we lose hammers on city trades, don't we?

Took Assyrian (barb city on the other side of the world he just took). Trade screen:

:wow:

We might not always be able to take a city, unfortunately. And we can't give a city back to Hannibal, because then we'd be eliminated. WB in a city on an island and give it a courthouse, then set it to build some building it will never complete? (not a wonder)

how about we get Hannibal to trade Marvin to one of the other AIs - seems we are slowing Hannibal down too much.

I don't think we'd slow Mansa down all that much. He already has CoL! So does Willem. Infact, I am pretty sure Will is the most advanced.

Or Or you can take all the free cities possible from Hannibal, and start your own empire and support him, with the rule you can never take a city (you can still attack a city to its last defender) then hopefully he will attack and take the city
But you can settle in any left over land, or settle any cities he razes?

Lurker's Comment:

You were correct, you may not tech trade until you have a city, further your AI partner wol't trade techs, since you are a human teammate. Only way to make this a viable SG is to have someone WB you a 1 tile surrounded by ice, no palace city in the North pole somewhere (a city that only has a pop of 1 with no palace wol't affect the game much at all), or re-roll with tech trading off.
