Ruff09: Which Improvement?

 no idea where we are going as marathon is (evidently) a horrible speed for SG's lol. Fend off the bad guys and expand south I guess? 5 tiles directly south of capital, on top of the bananas (thought I signed it) would be an absolute food and commerce paradise once the jungle was cleared.

We need Workers obviously as well but it seems only one half complete action can be done each turn set lol.

Cheers!

Ruff, we need those axes. It's swarming in barbies out there. Workers can't do nothing with barbs around... And we need to settle new thingies as well. I was thinking Pigs, I think there are some to the north, but perhaps Banana is fine aswell (we are going to need Sailing for Calendar to have them do anything, though).

Banana's 5 south isn't about the bananas btw. The location is at a nexus of rivers with 2 rice and another banana to farm. This place is amazing food once the jungles are tamed. Keep in mind we don;t need civil to farm that place so once we wipe out a jungle, it's gone.

Cheers!
-Liq

We have pleaty of axes ... don't we? Do we really need more? What we do need is workers. I start a worker (120 hammers) in the capital and then double whip it for 180 hammers - then straight into another worker. That is the to build workers - 2 workers in about 5 or 6 turns.

I also revolt to Hinduism and decide that everyone hindu is a buddy (and gets what ever they want). Further, we should be careful not to trade with our hindu-block's worst enemies - just check before pulling the trigger on a trade.

I sign peace in both our wars - and make 10 gold in the bargin. I also get involved in some trades - typically only with our Hindu buddies.

Finally - I go crazy with the BUG dot mapper ...

Big news this set ...

I played 36 turns - that is about right considering this is marathon. A normal set at this stage would be about 10 turns, so triple that for marathon. 2 workers, 1 settler and a couple of units. Lets keep pushing the expansion. We could do with a bunch more workers - do we want to organize a raiding party and nab us some?

A Quarry was destroyed near Tenochtitlan

:eek:wow WTH indeed with the civil service sling shot:lol:.

:goodjob:

Good to see we are revolting beur and organized btw. As for stealing workers, the sheer amount of jungle we have to traipse though just to get to another civ bothers me; never mind trying to get a worker back hehe. Sound like hammers spent better elsewhere.

A few of those dots really seem shady to me btw:D. Seeing as it's all 100% farmable grassland down there, the area west of banana dot (5 south of capital and is 100% river side haha) can afford some overlap by a riverside town 4west1south to suck down all those stray rice. Push a town on the pony's 3west 2 south of the rice dot (the ponys are line up with the rice) and you have a horse town with 3x rice to farm. Not saying we need to settle those towns now btw, just a better way of squeezing use out of that super fertile area.

Killer turn set though ruff.

Cheers!

omg WTH? please post a new post when you skip as I just now randomly checked this thread despite it not having anything new since the 18th.

Will play later on tonight now that a Liq realizes he's up

I double the call for a new post (instead of editing) so that we get 'new post' notification. I have no game plan for the next set - we need workers and defense (but you already knew that one). Grow, chop, chop, whip settler ... :D

ok liq has to step back and laugh , drink some tea, laugh some more... drink some more tea, hit the rest room to drop off some older tea while laughing. Man Ruff, 60AD oracle Civil slingshot? that's OMGWTFBBQ if a liq ever saw one :goodjob:

Anyway sorry about the delay.. a sick liq was mesmerized by this wide open map of potential dots such that prolly wasted a good drugged day messing with the bug bfc tool. Love that thing though you could stand to have a Screen shot bright mode you can toggle for screens shots because as of now, they make horrible sg maps hehe.

Start the turn set off on turn 356 with several turns of anarchy played to 373ish before needing a break.

Notice we are not in Monarchy for some reason but organized religion and bureaucracy is good. look at the trade and noting going on there, construction will prolly be up for trade soon though. Lots of barbs around so should be entertaining.

Defence is looking horrible right now as all we have are a few anti barb axes with many hostiles around. Talking we are the worst enemies of Justin and kublai who are both in build up mode so them DOWing is just a matter of time. How copper town only has a woods 2 axe there is criminal so I whip a spear from iron and move the woods 3 to the east for preemptive protection.

I put a super cheap courthouse in front of teno's market.

110AD effing villagers farm our pigs again.....
110adpigs.png

I don't have the troops to spare to effing destroy it as non stop barbs are coming. This the same turn the first kublai sword comes next to copper town so lets see how many troops they bring this time.

120addownumber1.jpg

120AD a good chunk of the world DOWs on us.

That wounded sword is dispatched just as Justin pulls up a chariot/holken combo. guess who is going to dow on us next?

Yep he sure does and manages to bring Ragnar into it. I managed to push him back placing the woods 3 axe on top of him so the spear I brought from iron town has time to fortify. So anyone keeping count...
Spoiler :
200adscore.png

that's 6x idiots we are at war with.

LOLZ a nice barb manages to destroy the pasture for us as well as the extra road.

More Justin troops from the north but am YoYo-ing them with woods 2+ axes and picking off an hulkan left unescorted. I love woods 3 btw hehe.

Fight culminates into a weak Chariot+ holken attack on an iron town (who has that whipped spear again) and the woodies find a Justin squatter town guarded by a single Holken hehe..
Auto Razed tho the newly named Micky (the woods 3 uber killer) is barely alive. He heals fast hehe.

moving up managed to please the ruff gods with a worker punt rofl. I missed the screen and not going to try and load a huge map with photoshop going. The worker and a woods 2 axes are on a jungle next to a new Justin town one tile off the iron. That town has a spear and archer in it and the worker can get away np looks like as there's an easy path back.

Calendar is in
220adcalandar.png

Micky the woods 3 is self healing after taking the trash out.. he's 16/17 exp. I wouldn't make him medic to be honest as we have jags which start with woods default.

220adtech.png

Tech is open as we can go aesthetics for trade or con or whatever. Rags will trade construction btw (if he wasn't at war with us hehe).

Been besieged this entire turn, barbs in the west and kicking some serious Justin ass in the east. No losses and managed to pop a sacrificial altar who apparently halved whip anger the moment ts was built... so 3 turns before you can start the whip watch on capitals market.

Played only 17 turns but well total war that entire time and liq is still not feeling well.

We must expand south to banana dot if only to shield capital from this endless flood of barbs.

So salient end turn notes...
What is next tech?
I would run the punted worker south of the lake chain.
get an altar going in iron dot
Expand to banana dot so workers can actually improve around capital without constant barbs.
We are at war with half the world. most are fake, see if you can get some cash off those fools.

Btw, those modified Courthouses are easy to build and are broken good.

Cheers!

Honestly tried to road to yellow dot but every time worker stepped on the gems another barb popped next door. Need banana Dot just for the barb coverage.

Enjoy tormenting Justin, knocked off a good part of his mystery power level.

Cheers!

Okay - once again a basic report from me.

Early: I beg gold from our Hindu friends, as well as sell outdated techs to a few folks for all thir cash. Harassing Justinian

Middle: We get a quest to spread Mining Inc to 12 cities. Uhhh okay? We continue to harass Justinian, but sign peace with everyone else. Everyone paid us except Kublai, who landed up next to our pillagers with a decent stack, so he got like 40 gold

Late: We got a Great Spy. I wasn't sure what to do so I settled him. Aesthetics came in and we need to pick a new tech. Construction and Theology are out but nobody (that has either) will trade with us.

I tentatively put it on Paper I think? Capital needs a new build. I selected Hanging Gardens but that was just for fun. Sure would take awhile but we could use the health....

Slow is the name of this game.

liq is unsure of the next town locations but pushing south and west sounds good as food = hammers with that broken altar thing :D.

To that end, the silver and hill pigs town south of copper town would help the corp but be a pretty ugly town. Banana dot was already founded and, after some critical worker attention, will easily be our IW town as a levy will bring a hammer to every single tile the town covers.

ruff09silverdot.png

So explicitly there's Yellow dot on the grass hill silver, which will tilt mining inc from +2 to +3 hammers I believe (.5 hammers per resource consumed) so that rather marginal town will be an asset sooner rather than later.

Lot of hills and lost peak squares but the real damage is that both bananas and one of the pigs are on hills and such are unable to be farmed. Probably enough food to work all those tiles tho, so a good military pump that's near the action.

For more whip towns some pretty major overlap but each of those rice tiles are like gold and there's nothing wrong with mass grasslands!

ruff09bluegreen.png

Blue dot is a filter town which grabs 2x rice (while sharing 6 tiles) of farmable grassland tiles for the most part; a perfectly fine town all set to whip. More important, it provides a sheltered irrigation path to the green dot's pony's+3xrice, not to mention makes settling orange dot's marble feasible. Again, these locations are pure river infested grasslands that are easily exploited after worker attention.

I would go yellow(block + corp)
-> blue -> green towns and let the idiots to the NE clear cut the jungle for us. After all that maybe marble or maybe chase after the silk to the west.

Btw, a major wonder for us is the haga WTH... for the faster worker actions... such a pathetic wonder normally, not sure off hand which tech unlocks it haha.

Oh looking the map there's pretty much 100% coal sitting 4east 1south of yellow dot (2 west of the fur). Sorry but a blank grass hill in an ocean of jungle screams industrial age resource.

Tech was left on a 14 turn lit which makes perfect sense to liq.

Cheers!
