I have a mac, and am trying to run Civ V through parallels (Direct X 10 and 11) in order to easily get mods. However every time that I try to run it, it comes up with an error message :

A side note- it works on Directx 9, but is slow. If anyone could find a way for me to run it on Directx 10/11, that would be really awesome!
Thank you so much!

It has been a while since I ran CiV in Parallels (I boot into Bootcamp if I need to use the windows version). But I seem to recall there being a issue with DirectX 10 in parallels, and that it would only run under 9. I would search the parallels forum, I think it was posted there.

If it's slow on DX9 it will be even worse on DX10/11. Parallels and Fusion are not designed to cope with demanding 3D graphics.

As I understand it, DX10 and 11 are designed to take full advantage of the hardware acceleration built into modern graphics cards. Unfortunately, virtualisation software such as Parallels has to communicate with the graphics card via the OS X drivers, which can only use OpenGL for this purpose, regardless of the Windows DX version.

OpenGL doesn't support the level of optimisation used by DX10/11, so, as Xyth says, you would not achieve any performance improvements even if you were able to persuade Parallels to run that version of Civ5.
