does anyone know how to make civ III run inside a window in XP? I can access my home computer using XP's Remote Desktop, and the map editor program works great but I can't see CIV II because it doesn't run in a window.

Is there a setting I'm missing or something?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

It can't be run in a window. But you can multi-task. Just press the Windows button on your keyboard and you'll get to the start menu. Optionally you can then click on the "Show desktop" shortcut and there you have your windows back with Civ3 on the background. :)

Civ3 runs just fine in my WinXP. There is a "Microsoft Windows" key on my keyboard; I just use that key to switch to other program and Civ3 is minimized.

I believe your problem is more related to the way WinXP uses the remote desktop (terminal services). I've had a little bit of experience with it in the past and found that no, you cannot play games through that connection; but I always thought it was because of the way the game handled the graphics and such. I think that even if you were able to get it to run in a window (would be cool so I could play at work), you wouldn't see anything but a black window on the desktop.

I'm pretty sure it's just the graphics of the game, because windows has to take over that differently and the remote desktop can't just push that through the pipe you're connecting with, it's just too complicated for it to do it.
