My friend and I are having a strange error with a mod I made. There are no major changes with the mod from the regular game and it works flawlessly when either of us start a game of the mod.

However, when attempting to load a saved game of that mod, we get the following error:

Runtime Error!

Program: ...apps\common\sid meier's civilization v\CivilizationV.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I would assume since my changes were minimal and actually work when I start a new game and play through it that this is a problem on Firaxis' end, but if anyone else has had this issue I'd like to hear it.

Thanks.

Edit - Also this was tested in DX9 and 10/11.

Try checking "Affects Saved Games" on the Mod Info tab of the mod properties.

I thought that was checked by default? I'll take a look, thanks.

Edit: Yeah, it's checked as I expected =/

Hmm... are you trying to run the mod together with another mod? Some people noticed that simple clock breaks save games when loaded with other mods that effect the save games.

Outside of that I'm not sure.

Nope, only running it as a single mod right now--though I do plan to add to it at a later date with additional "light" mods.

I do appreciate your efforts to help me with this though, I've played your Queen of Iceni mod and found it very impressive, I just wish I could toggle the big unit graphics :P

Is Civ5 fully updated to 1.0.0.20? The last two patches were supposed to resolve all known mod save crashes.

Maybe attach your mod and someone can look at it. Sometimes a second set of eyes picks up what we don't see ourselves. :)

Please keep in mind this is still a mod very much in the works. It's main attraction is to add 6 different "classes" of mechs to choose from from the game "Chromehounds" rather than the single GDR that comes with the game. I plan to add much more to it later, but obviously I only have the GDR model to work with and my code is still a little sloppy. This was simply whipped up in a few minutes to get a platform on which to test on.

I would appreciate it if it wasn't downloaded if you have no intention of trying to figure out what's going wrong.

Thanks.

Checked and PM replied to.

To reiterate, the mod loads fine for me and the friend I mentioned, it's when it is saved and loaded back up again that the runtime error comes up.

Thanks again Dale for taking a look at it.

Will take another look tonight. :b:

I just checked the log files and discovered that this error is not being logged...

Anyone have a suggestion for fixing errors that don't log?

Bump.

I've fixed my problem, it was the deleting giant death robot mod I was incorperating in my mod that caused it, I don't know if it's the delete command or just the order the files were being run, but it's worth checking if your doing anything similar flak fox

Seriously? It's the deleting assets that causes this?

I just ran into this same issue on my own mod that I'm working on.

Crap. Now I have to figure out another way to do this. Namely, how to remove things like Free Promotions from units without deleting them.
