ryanjames' mods-Civilisations, small and large

I'm having trouble also.

I do have a couple preliminary ideas: the UI Nature Reserve. Can't build more than 1 on a specific terrain type within a city's working area (might be hard to code). Available at Ecology. Provides +2 Tourism and +2 Science.

And part of the UA could involve incoming and outgoing foreign trade routes increase tourism more than usual?

I was thinking of culture from luxury resources due to it's abundance of resources and involvement in trade.

Or, to represent it's strong migrational history, every time you meet a new civilisation or city state there is a chance you gain a new citizen in one of your cities.

It's got Indonesian, Indian, Dutch, African etc. ethnicities there

I was thinking something like that too, but I didn't want to step too much into the territory of Moriboe's Nri.

Why? Moriboe is long gone.

Why? Moriboe is long gone.

The Nri have been replaced by a more recent Igbo mod haven't they?

Also, how are these Icons for the Mossi and Akkadian empires?

The Akkadian symbol is Cuneiform for "divinity" and the Mossi is take from the Burkina Faso coat of arms.

What do you think of the colours? I'd like to keep a dark red for Akkadian, but I'm not sure if the Mossi looks too welsh

Yup, Mossi one seems to similar to Hiram's wales civilization:
Spoiler :

By the way, any reason to not use this? (I'm guessing that that can only be open by photoshop and you don't have it, if so I can help you there) Also, I think that these colour schemes won't be very pleasant to the eye ingame, have you tested them already?

The colours are from the Burkina Faso flag, so they probably aren't that neccersary.

I'll take a look at that template, though I use Gimp/paint.net and not photoshop

The Mossi flag from EU IV is light orange and dark green stripes, so I think those might work as colours. Anyway, here's a refinement of the Burkinabe idea Hoop was talking about:-

---

Mossi Kingdom (Yennenga)
Start Bias: Plains
Capital: :c5capital: Wagadugu
UA: Etalons De La Reine
Units that require a specific Strategic Resource gain a +3% :c5strength: Combat Bonus when attacking for each excess copy of that Resource you possess. +2 :c5faith: Faith from Pastures.
UU: Nakombse (replaces Knight)
Higher :c5strength: Combat Strength than the Knight it replaces (25 :c5strength: Strength vs. 20), faster, and starts with both Charge and a unique promotion, "Naam", which allows it to both generate a small amount of :c5culture: Culture and :c5faith: Faith when Pillaging a tile and healing additional HP from doing so when close to an enemy City. Vastly more expensive and cannot be bought with :c5gold: Gold, but may be purchased with :c5faith: Faith without requiring the Holy Warriors founder belief. If the Holy Warriors belief is selected, Nakombse may be purchased at reduced cost. Upgrades to Cavalry.
UB: Friday Court (replaces Temple)
+1 :c5faith: Faith. +1 :c5faith: Faith from Bonus, Strategic, and Luxury Resources. Also generates 1 of every yield the Palace (stacks with God-King Pantheon, but does not include the :tourism: Tourism yield from the filled :greatwork: Great Work of Art slot) generates, plus a :c5goldenage: Golden Age point, once the Grand Temple is constructed. Costs additional :c5gold: Maintenance.

---

So, this one is a bit more streamlined than the other, focusing more on your mini-palaces and mid-game equestrian antics, with the aristocratic cavalrymen forming expert raiding parties as they did in real life - they even went deep into Malian territory on their little shopping trips. The Friday Court is possibly a little bit broken, but to get the most out of it, you need to pick a slightly lacklustre pantheon in the form of God-King... or just settle near a bunch of Horse tiles and see how well it goes. =]

---

EDIT: Here's the flag I was talking about.

Spoiler :

EDIT: Here's the flag I was talking about.

Spoiler :

There's some really good ideas here, however I'd, if possible, love it if the UA allowed players to pick beliefs already adopted. I might do +1 faith from pastures and camps, Yennega did get together with an elephant hunter.

Love the UU, I will likely do something similar, to do with pillaging and raiding.

But, what are Friday courts, out of interest? Personally I'd like to stay away from temple replacements, there's too many of them if you ask me ^^

But thanks alot for the input!

Also, here is the map of Akkad, courtesy of DSJ_henninger!

Is this any better? As a Mossi emblem?

The loop inside the horse's tail should be transparent (showing the brown background behind)?

The loop inside the horse's tail should be transparent (showing the brown background behind)?

I think it's part of the design, but if people think it'd look better without it then I will do so

What's the source?

What's the source?

It's from the Burkina Faso coat of arms.

And considering cavalry were a bit part of Mossi history, I thought it would be appropriate

Yeah, I'm betting that part is supposed to be transparent too then.

What about this AK and something from the old coat of arms?

Just seems a little weird using the supporter from a coat of arms rather than a central element thereof.

EDIT: I am dumb and forgot this is for the Mossi and not Burkina Faso. Ergo the AK and whatever would probably be completely inappropriate.

Yeah, though I'd like to have Burkinabe elements (the peace theme will be Burkinabe), an AK would be rather inappropriate. I mean, at heart this will likely be a cavalry/religion civ, so the supporter from the coat of arms seemed appropriate, being a (probably) national symbol, and a reflection of the older Mossi kingdoms, which of course the mod will be XD

Unfortunately, my UA will not be possible, it requires a DLL change, can someone else think of something concerning religious tolerance, or integrating a religion into culture (like increased culture in cities per religion present, stuff like that)

And also a UA name, scapegrace came up with a good one, any other suggestions?

The Friday Court's kind of a cultural thing in Burkina Faso, when goods and stuff are presented to the village chief. On a Friday. Hence the name. It's a specialised area, and while the original was a Colosseum replacement, I was thinking that it should be a Temple to better fit the faith/warfare theme I had going on with the Mossi redesign. =]

I feel like a Colosseum might work better, with an increased happiness and some kind of faith bonus focused around luxuries. I mean, to preserve happiness after a war, players tend to build colosseums :)
