ryanjames' mods-Civilisations, small and large

Playing as the Sogdians right now, and really enjoying it. One thing that I noticed though is that their peace theme seemed like I had heard it from another civ before. So I checked and it looks like it's the same music used for LastSword's Durrani civ. Don't know whether that makes any difference or not, but I thought I'd at least bring it to your attention.

Hmm, it might, but then again I've been holding onto that track for the longest time specifically for the Sogdian civ >.<

Will be updating at some point to make it so Rebats are not buildable on forest/jungle, that was never intended to be a feature.

Also, if people could give some input concerning the designs for my next "set" of civs.

i.e. Senegal, Elam, The Gupta, Manx update

For Senegal, I was thinking UA-Negritude Once the industrial congress is founded (or you enter the industrial era), whenever you expend a great person, temporarily gain a delegate in the WC+something useful for more of the game.

UU-Tirailleurs

Early GW infrantry replacement that obsoletes later. If it liberates a city, gain a free great person of your choice (not sure how codable that is)

Other UU will either be the Griot or some medieval Wolof unit or something

For Elam, something relating to city states, the UB, the Apandana should have a bonus relating to how it was where tribute was presented to the Elamite rulers.

For the Gupta, UA-Gain golden age points when great peeps are born, 20% science during golden ages.

UU-Steel bowman

UB-Likely a library or university replacement with an interesting bonus concerning great person generation.

For the new Manx update,

UA-50% aircraft production +something cool

UU-Rebalanced steampacket

UB-Balley, workshop replacement that, perhaps gives a lower base bonus but increases production slightly for every mine, farm and fishing boat worked.

Just pumped out an extremely quick Senegal leaderscreen. I'll change a whole lot of things when I have time, but it's a decent start for now:

Looking at your proposed designs, I have to say that I really love the Gupta one. I'd vote for the UB to be a library replacement, since there seem to be a lot more unique university replacements among mod civs than unique library replacements, although perhaps that's just because of which mod civs I have. But I really love the focus of your design for the civ so far, plus the great synergy.

Looking very noice!

Also yes, it does seem to just be the special rebat, but that's fixed now :)

Better then my horrible attempt a few months back.

I noticed throughout my game with the Sogdians that some of my rebats never got the additional point of science after I researched economics. I looked for a pattern to see if I could see a common thread amongst the ones that didn't get the extra science, and I eventually found one. Rebats with fresh water access don't get the extra science. This includes both the normal ones and the special sartapao ones. I also noticed that taking the freedom policy that greats increased yields to great person tile improvements doesn't affect the special rebats at all, although I don't know whether that was intentional or accidental on your part.

Already fixed that a couple days ago, update it.

I have no idea about the policy thing though.

Well, that's because there is no addition to New Deal which changes the Rabat. It's possible, but you'll need to add something.

I did a bit of research for the second Senegalese uu, and I found that the Jolof empire was notable for its cavalry, which were generally armed with throwing spears and javelins, so perhaps it could be a horseman/knight replacement with a one tile ranged attack? My only worry would be finding a skin though, as you'd possibly need new animations or something.

A Senegal Icon

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of those colors. They don't look very good, at least to me, nor do they remind me of Senegal. What do you think of something like this?

I was going to use a scheme almost identical to that for something :(

Personally I'd use something more akin to this for Senegal:
Spoiler :

Visibly different to Mossi, I checked. Green should probably be a lot darker though.

I'll recolour it.

Anyone have ideas for a full design then?

As well as ideas for my other planned civs?

Just found an absolute brilliant civ, the Chechens/Nahk people(s)

Leader-Beibulat Taimiev

Cultural hero, known as "The most feared man in the Causcaus". Lots of legends about him, he was something of a diplomat for the Chechen people.

UU-Abrek, replaces cavalry

Abrek were raiders who rebelled against the Russian and Cossak settlers in the 1800s , considered cultural heroes

UI-Vainakh tower

Only buildable on hills

Towers that the Nakh peoples built for thousands of years, tall towers that had religious, cultural and military purposes.

The Nakh were notable for their political system, which was one of the most free/democratic systems on the planet, the concept of freedom and independence is very important in their traditions, hence why the regions are plagued with rebellion and Jihadism against the Russian government in Moscow . . .

I love the idea of the towers, as they were very multipurpose buildings. I have no idea as to what to do with the UA.

Probably defense and faith, like, gain city combat strength for every mountain within your borders.

It looks pretty good, so I think I'll have to add these dudes to my list of planned civs too.

Should it be Chechnya or a (Vain)Nakh peoples civ
