ryanjames' mods-Civilisations, small and large

People who voted for Thailand, vote again please, google forms is weird and it erased all the votes for Thailand.

Looking at the poll results so far, it seems like a few people were voting more than once :|

As a result, people must now log in to google to vote, didn't want to have to do that, but, I'm posting the poll to reddit soon, so I imagine it's gonna get alot of people attempting to vote more than once XD

Or just, you know, use strawpoll. Simpler and efficient-er.

Someone suggested that, but it seems too late now, already got like 50 responses.

And the Palatinate is released!

Not my most ambitious mod, but it was a fun one to do, not really done much with unique national wonders or civilian units yet!

I'll update the OP shortly

Cool! I'll keep it for my E&D - less game.

Eventually, we might get E and D on some of my mods.

I'll definitely be updating the Protectorate first, so people can ban Christmas :D

Does anyone know if Ambroz62 is active, or whether he would mind me commandeering his Lydian LS?

I suppose it would be kinda rood to use his same Lydian LS on another Lydian mod.

Rude, says the barbarian...
nope, he isn't active.

Well, all the art from JFD's Nri seems to have been taken from Moriboe's Nri :)

Anyway, it's just the LS, because LS are a pain in the rump to get, dunno how I managed to get the Palatinate and the Mossi sorted.

Hmm, so far, in da big survey, the top 3 are:

1. Troy with 36 votes

2. Cherokee, Pueblo and Thailand all have 29 votes (anyone know which monarch Sukitract is doing Thailand under?)

3. And the Conch Republic with a mighty 25 votes.

Bear in mind that this is more of an indication of what civs I might do after Lydia and Cyprus, I might not do them in this order, and there's still gonna be quite a bit of time before I get Lydia and Cyprus done, so other civs might suddenly gain a boost in popularity.

Doesn't hurt to start planning some stuff now though, I'm quite interested in the Pueblo, my ideas are

UI-"Pueblo" 50% defense bonus, can't be built adjacent to another Pueblo. +1 food +2 random yields. +1 food after fertilizer

UB-"Kiva" Amphitheater replacement with regular yields +1 faith per pueblo, mine and quarry around a city where it is built.

Not so sure about the UA, something to do with mountains and growth.

Troy, not sure about the leader, would be based more off mythical troy

UA-"Trojan wars" cannot built settlers/annex cities. extra damage to foes that attack your cities + something powerful as it's a city state.

UU-"Bowman of Apollo" Composite bowman replacement with the accuracy promotion. Has a unique promotion, "Achilles heel", 5% chance to kill a unit instantly.

UB-"Walls of troy", increased defense + something

Cherokee, led by John Ross

UA-"Adaptation", something nift to do with gaining techs

UU-"Tomahawk" crossbowman replacement with 3 movement and can move after attacking. extra combat strength, but only 1 range

UB-"Syllabary school" Public school replacement that, does some stuff, hopefully to sync with UA

Thailand would likely be diplomatic due to how it avoided colonisation, but it really depends on what leader I chose.

Conch republic would have a stale bread thrower UU

And a bunch of other stuff, any ideas?

So, I'mma try for a historic Troy. Wish me luck! Also, Ryan, did Eli pass on my plans for the thing you wanted help with? =]

Troy (Piyamaradu)
Start Bias: Coastal
Capital: :c5capital: Wilusiya
UA: Stormgod Of The Army
Melee Units in your territory may make an additional attack, and gain a +25% :c5strength: Combat Bonus for the duration of Peace Treaties with Major Civilizations. Ranged Units do additional damage against Fortified Units.
UU: Ahhiyan (replaces Chariot Archer)
Radically different to the Chariot Archer it replaces, the Ahhiyan is a Melee Unit and has an increased :c5strength: Melee Combat Strength (10 :c5strength: vs. 6), is substantially faster (5 base movement vs. 4), does not stop in Rough Terrain, and begins with +1 Movement. It also starts with the unique promotion, "Horse-Taming Trojans", which allows it to generate a boost of :c5production: Production in all Cities per kill equal to double the :c5strength: Combat Strength of the unit killed. Upgrades to Knight.
UB: Harnisaza (replaces Walls)
+7 :c5strength: City Combat Strength, +50 City HP. +1 :c5production: Production in the City in which it is built for each foreign Unit or Barbarian it kills via Bombardment, rising to +2 during any Peace Treaties.

Tricky to do, but I think I've scraped together a balance between real and Homeric Troy/Wilusa. Slightly irritating, and you might just have to delve into the Troad for a city list, but I think it's an interesting Civ that rewards last-ditch defending, declaring war on everyone at once, and, to quote Theoden, having your enemies "break upon the walls of this fortress like water on rock". It's built entirely around pointing at Shaka, Monty, and everyone else, and saying "Come at me, bro."

Which can only end well.

That's nice design... looks a bit too strong though(you could just DoW everyone you meet. Combined with the great wall, you can't really defeat that. Also, does that include CS peace treaties? Because its wayyyy too powerful then).

That might be interesting, but I'm... not even sure what ones they'd go for. Ranged Promotions? Air Unit promotions? Cover would be interesting, Volley makes you all but impossible to take without cav, and the less I think about what Medic would do, the happier I'll be. =]

EDIT: Natan pointed out something I missed - that CS peace treaties are abusable in this context. However, while this is a very strong UA, I don't think it's OP, because it comes with the considerable downside of requiring you to be at war with multiple AIs to get the most benefit out of it. And yes, the Great Wall is an extremely strong Wonder for this Civ... but the AI really likes building it (I could count the number of times I've built it on Deity on a blind butcher's fingers) and if you're playing against it, you just buddy up to them and save 'em for last... assuming they don't get their collective face pushed in by some of the other warmongers in the game. Fighting multiple Carpets Of Doom is extremely hard.

Obviously they'd need a completly new set of Promotions:

Spoiler Example :
Militia - +15% Combat strenght against Melee Units
Preparedness - +15% Combat strenght against Ranged Units
Ramparts - 30% less damage taken from ranged Attacks.
Victory Day - +25% Great Person Generation on this city
Day of the Veterans - +10 Experience to units trained in this city

You know, stuff like that
