S-05 Beat the Clock

:goodjob: Probably you finished Roosy of at an earlier date this way b/c you had to wait than you would have in a conventional war. Now you had to wait some 40+ turns or so to kill before you could start the war. So you had "nothing better to do" than building nukes^zillion, and finish it of in 3 turns.
The end game sounds like : :deadhorse:
Any resistance from the remaining "forces"?

Next time emporer or Blake's AI :mischief:

Great read thanx.

A few more post-game reflections.

Twas a fun game :goodjob:. Thanks to the team. Any particularly to Swiss who never backed down when he disagreed with me .

We did get behind on the wars, and the timings of when we had to declare were slightly imbalanced. The point at which I was most concerned about whether we could pull it off was when we had to declare on Izzy, being bogged down in the arabian and viking wars at the same time. And about that time, Vicky was running around with SAM infantry .

Importantly we killed most of Saladin's mobile troops with a beeline to cavalry initiated by Sweet, followed by stuge whipping a whole bunch out. We whipped even high-commerce cities that were working mature cottages to get them out, and we definitely needed them. I would have lost a lot of troops to camel archers in my turnset if it wasn't for the cavs.

Secondly, the prioritising of rifling and nationalism was vital for the spanish war. Izzy seemed to have built a lot of conquistadors, who aren't countered by pikemen or grendiers. So drafting a lot of rifles really helped here.

We were lucky in the english war because she lacked oil. She was ahead the techs for tanks, destroyers and fighters but was unable to build any.

Finally, sabotaging the SDI and going nuke-crazy is a new tactic to me, and one I will consider in the future. Nice.

You're welcome! A bit of vigorous (but not impolite) debate is one of the feature's of SGs I find most appealing. In challenging, and being challenged, one is forced to (re-)think tried and tested favoured strategies/tactics.

As to the scenario, it was perfect for an SG: I'd have quit a solo game (too much military micro), but the bite size SG chunks kept it enjoyable. Thanks again!
