Saint Dane: The One of Evil

Hello there everybody, I'd like to introduce you to my newest game, Saint Dane: The One of Evil (I feel this is a lame title, but I couldn't think of another one off the top of my head. This game will be something completely different from what I normally play, I'll be in a team, with Always War on. My team consists of myself (as Saint Dane), Nevva Winter, Alexander Naymeer, Figgis, Winn Farrow. My mortal enemies include: Bobby Pendragon, his two lady friends Courtney and Loor, Vo Spader, Alder, and Gunny.

Rules/Settings:
Always War!
All victories are enabled, but it really should be a Conquest or Domination win.
No huts or events (I turned them off in S&T and I'm not going back)
Monarch difficulty

And now the story!

The sun rose in the year 4000 B.C. the leader of the Ravinians, Saint Dane looked upon his land with disgust, it needed more brutality, more darkness, however that would be for another time, for now he had to build an empire that would crush all of the puny Halaans who would oppose him. Thus the Horizon Compound was formed, and a massive palace to Saint Dane, nay, Ravinia's greatness stood, "motivating" the citizens to build military units faster.

Various meaningless technologies were discovered, including Masonry. With this new and exciting technology, Saint Dane built walls in the Horizon Compound and those inside debated whether it was to keep others out, or themselves in...

Shortly after this happening, the city of Chicago was founded, saint Dane had his eyes on the sweet pigs and useful copper from the start and realized that without these precious metals, war would be impossible.

Eventually Bronze Working and writing were researched but instead of building libraries, Saint Dane mercilessly oppressed his citizens, forcing them into slavery to earn food for their families, it caused anger and resentment, yet the citizens could only sit and watch as their world crumbled around them.

However, even in this horrible oppression, a Great Engineer was born, Saint Dane claimed it was due to the "protective walls" that surrounded the city. Saint Dane, however, sacrificed this wonderful mind to build the Pyramids, which glorified his name.

Sait Dane quickly changed his government into a "representative" government in hopes to appease his people and research faster than ever before, the plan worked, and Chicago rapidly grew and built a library, allowing it to foster the sciences in its borders, in a sense, life became bearable for the citizens, although they still feared the whip.

Saint Dane then sent out a party to build a city, which he called Cincinnati, as a symbol of Ravinian power, his people were pleased with this clear success, and shortly aafter founded the city of Memphis to take advantage of cows and floodplains, unwisely building cottages on these frequently flooded areas.

Saint Dane then grew greedy, he demanded a Currency with his face on the front, promoting trade, the idea did work though, and people began to accept their empire, as the whip was falling less harshly and frequently now. However, all was not calm in the frontiers, a barbarian city was found to the southwest of Saint Dane's empire, which would not be tolerated. Eventually, a joint Saint Dane-Nevva Winter attack captured the city, and Nevva Winter graciously gave it to Saint Dane.

Saint Dane then "saved" and rested a bit, building up energy for more expansion and oppression in the future.

That's...a GREAT idea! I just have to remember which person he was in each book. (Mallos, Zy Roder/Po Nassi, Yorn...) ok, maybe a bit too much to remember, but I'll be sure to at least throw a few references out there, multiple personality disorder seems pretty exhausting.

I did that for my Narnia mod which.. WORKS!!!! Also, I played the Pendragon mod, It's awesome! I played as Spader (Vo) and went straight for Animal Husbandry, then Flumes. And it, remarkably, worked.

AH to Flumes? Why? Flumes are expensive, the wonders cost a lot and don't really help until mid game. Then again, if there's nothing else to do in the BFC...

Until then however, I'll stick to late Flumes or Oracling Flumes, glad you like the mod and Spader has an AWESOME navy, just wait until modern era with a Ship Assembly and Moai on a small island...

Very nice, the only reason I said a 1 tile/small sialnd is that with Ship Assembly and Moai, it's 2 food, hammer, and commerce a turn per tile, it get's pretty ridiculous, especially w/ overseas trade, the trade bonus from the Ship Assembly etc. BTW, what difficulty do you play on, because that could definitely change my early game strategy to a nice little Flume start.

I don't start with anything except starting techs in noble. so I had some, and I did AH before I did flumes. And I took a break half-way through for mining, BW and IW

Saint Dane returned from his slumber to find First Earthian lands under seige by the evil Zadaans. Saint dane then realized that this stack of units would be able to redirect to his lands, so he forced his people to train in the art of fighting with axes and even taught some to sling rocks at cities to weaken the defenders inside.

Then, it got even worse for Winn Farrow, Pittsburgh was taken and a massive Cloran army began marching toward his larger cities, hungry for the blood of war, waiting for an opportunity for glory.

Saint Dane had discovered many technologies, including Civil Service, his government advisor, Mallos, told him to switch to bureaucracy to take advantage of some of the commerce around the capital city, so Saint Dane obliged, if anything to be one step closer to his fearsome macemen.

However, even in this time of war, Saint Dane set his eyes on expansion, and built the city of Palo Alto, hoping to one day build War Elephants that would help topple even the best fortified cities.

A barbarian city was soon razed and, in the midst of a bleak and endless war, Alexander Naymeer struck at Denduron with the force of a thousand swords and captured the tropical city of Mycenian.

Then, Max Rose helped to capture the city of Bryansk, a city that would soon run red with the blood of soldiers and innocents alike.

Saint Dane still felt the desire to expand, and so he built Samaritan and Sacramento to expand his borders even farther and eventually join up with the other Ravinians.

Then, Saint Dane sent his stack of axemen and catapults into Cloran territory, taking Leiden from Spader's hands and giving it to Winn Farrow to keep him alive, as he was reduced to two cities from the massive joint Zadaa-Cloral invasions.

Alder then joined the fray and captured Denver, Winn's most important city, it seemed as if the tides of war were turning against the Ravinians and soon Saint Dane could not guarantee the safety of his people.

But Saint Dane, in a last ditch effort, managed to recapture Bryansk yet again, much to the chagrin of the Zadaans, who had thought they could defend it. Very soon indeed would Saint Dane get Liberalism, then Nationalism and gunpowder, and at that point, the tides of war would turn again...

I'm trying to finsih this game up, when I do I'll update in a couple chunks, as there aren't many pictures to be taken, just lots of unit spam, rush buy, and wait.

Well, I'm still a while away from finishing, so I'll post a section either later tonight or tomorrow and then keep playing some more.

Saint Dane was growing in his power, Soon his teammates were making gains on the enemies, the tide of war began to turn, slowly, but from this point on Saint Dane was ruthless and tried his hardest to anihilate the competition, with significant allied help of course.

Then, Nevva Winter, the most powerful of the Ravinians discovered Liberalism and got a tech from it (it didn't say) clearly Ravinian power was significant to grab Liberalism from the scum lead by Pendragon.

Saint Dane then achieved his ultimate goal, The Convergence, the territories' boundries were breaking down, soon there would be chaos in Halla and he could recreate it in his own image, he asked Yorn for advice on which technology to pluck from the hands of the other territories, and he chose Nationalism in order to provide a positive outlet for his opression, his people would be angry, but conscripts were cheap and plentiful.

Soon after, Saint Dane and his allies began to research towards Military Tradition and got Drama, allowing Ravinian culture and propaganda to flow, boosting the crushed morales of his people and willing them to fight at least a little harder, after all, the youth of a nation cannot remember the hardships of their parents, especially with propaganda creating their truth.

All was not completely well, however, as Loor and Alder's armies destroyed Winn Farrow, however, Saint Dane used this as fuel for the fires of nationalism, soon his people were more than happy to be drafted, and Ravinian culture blossomed, no matter how evil the ideas were.

Even in the midst of losing an ally, Saint Dane made moderate gains, capturing Monterrey with primitive axemen, and then Boise with the thrilling and advanced Draft Muskets (not the band).

Indeed the tides of war were turning, now it was the calm before the storm, very soon indeed would Saint Dane unleash his whole fury on the fairly suspecting world, and nobody would deny his ultimate power.

Saint Dane was pleased, Banking was discovered, allowing more wealth to flow, and more wealth means more soldiers bribed into duty, and conquest aplenty.

Then, Haarlem was captured, pushing back the Second Earthians and setting a new precedent, Gunpowder is king of war and all those who don't adapt will not survive.

Then, even deeper in enemy territory, Omsk was captured, and Alder began to fear the armies under Saint Dane, as his highly unified and semi-moble attatchments could clear a city's defenders away quite quickly.

Then, Saint Dane used malicious new weapons of war, the rifle, mounted units crumbled under their pressure and the increased accuracy and power lead to the capture of another Denduronian city, Vologda.

Then Chemistry was discovered, but Saint Dane was not interested in such nonsense, he had to bribe or draft more riflemen for war, and this new science would not help this at all.

Then, the metropolis of Colombis was captured to add to Ravinian glory, indeed, the "good" travelers were feeling true pressure from Ravinian forces and the pressure could only climb higher and higher.

Then another Denduronian city, Mycenian, was captured and Courtney Chetwynde was at this point only able to keep one city from the foul clutch of the Ravinians.

Then the city of Boise was captured and a vast window into the travelers' realms was opened.

Saint Dane did not rest that night, rather he came up with new and great ideas to crush this resistance once and for all...
