Good turnset, Akuma-sama! I gotta tell you, you write some of the most amusing commentary that's posted on these fora.
Thank you, they're fun to write anyway

There was a sentence chopped off at the beginning of the report and I don't see any mention of a trade with Alex. Did something get dropped?

I was wondering on the wiseness of taking Yakutsk, but I forgot the name in mid-type and forgot to get back to it.
As for the trade...

I trade scientific Method to Alex for Nationalism, all his gold and his world map. I *could* have gotten Astronomy instead, but honestly galleons aren’t worth as much as Nationhood to draft some quick forces, especially not on a map with no water.
There.

Here's an opposing view to chew on:

I think we need to capture Peter's oil and then sue for peace. We're slowly running out of front line grunts. Can anyone remember the last time the machine god has suggested building a military unit other than a catapult or knight? It's got to have been over 50 turns. The only reason we have riflemen or grenadiers is because they've all been upgraded from obsolete units. And you can't take cities without feet-on-the-ground grunts.

Artillery and Infantry (coming soon you can bet) can be beaten with canons, but not with catapults. I suggest we stop warring, get our economy fixed and then focus on getting some techs that the AI doesn't have so we can start to back-fill through trading. That means we have to go for the most expensive techs offered, not the cheapest. Researching Economy will be a good boost in the effort to jumpstart our economy.

I agree with most of this, but I feel that we have a good chance at taking St. Pete. I've already sent a small stack toward Peter's oil town, which should be plenty to do the job, and our main attack stack has around 8 catapults in it, with more coming.
St. Pete is capturable, but yeah, our chances of taking Moscow after that are slim at best.

As for going for Techs the AI don't have, good luck with that! When I said we were behind, I meant we were behind.

And yeah, forgot the save...

OK Got it, I will try and play / post this tonight (Tuesday!!)

Ralph

Well on reading Sands and Akuma's posts (great set of turns by the way!!) I decided I agreed with both of them . Basically we should try and take St Pete's as Akuma had created a nice stack but other than that we needed Peace and to pray to the Machine God to let us sort our economy out!!

So started off in 2 turns of Anarchy so not much to do other than prepare stack aforementioend ready to March on St Pete's and Mini stack to Pete's Oily fishing village (somebody said capture but I am sure they meant Raze it as we have plenty of oil and dont need another fishing Village.

Here I immediately encounter a significant problem in the form of Pete's large Stack of Artillery  and Cossacks that looks like it could chew us up single handed. Decide to accelerate the Sand Plan and sue for Peace and am amazed I can get Peter to give me 30 gold for it.....

Burned an Engineer to complete the Globe Theatre, best use of other maybe to lightbulb some of Steam Power (next player can decide).

Most of the way through my turnset we bult a settler ummm :smoke: of the Highest AI Order.....

On the other hand other choices were quite good with a couple of Libraries / courthouses suggested by the AI.

The only significant choice was whether to build the Forbidden Palace in Paris, I said yes as it is at the Western End of our Empire and will help economically.

Now sorry for the lack of Screenies but the Machine god has punished me for teasing it too much by not capturing any. Unfortunately they are also my mental notes so to speak for doing write ups hence this not terribly detailed report

well i'll play tommorow good work even if i would of contrinued the war (thats just me).

Does that mean we didn't capture St. Pete and St. Oily? Pete we can do without, but we simply can't let Peter get oil, he'll run over our cavalry with fighter planes if we let him.

Seems like we're at a crucial decision point. We have the largest empire and should begin catching up in techs but there's no guarantee we can prevent the AIs from building the spaceship as they are wont to do. Or we can continue warring but that seems to slow us down a lot more than any of the opposition.

My vote remains: fix our economy, try to research stuff the AI doesn't have (machine-God willing), and trade ourselves into the tech lead. Then let loose the dogs of war (or Sand) on everybody using Stealth Bombers and Modern Armor.

If emmory serves me right Pete had more than one source of oil within his lands which is why I was prepared to forego razing the fishing village, even if we take it down there is quite a lot of oil on this map so he is goin to be able to put some hurt on us....

Ralph

well to start peter does have 3 sources of oil. and exactly how did nappy get memphis?

for the next player i would suggest attacking nappy he is just anoying me and i kept worrying about an attack on our cities.

Good work, Sand.

I've seen workers running like that -- it's kewl that you had the wherewithall to follow them and get screen captures of the event.

I wonder, can we trust an engineer who's a guy with Marie as a middle name?

WHOOPS! I missed the oils... well, forget everything I said then.

Building a few riflemen would be good, but if you're given the choice (*bows to the machine lord*) take groceries, universities, banks or whatever. We're fixing up our economy, not building up for war.
If we get a war, we can just upgrade our stack.

And *another* great engineer?

*shrugs* Maybe we could get him to build the Space Elevator's thread...

that city had nothing to be multiplied it would have made no difference.

well i'm going to need skip for 2 weeks since i'll be on holiday.

Enjoy your holiday, mate! We'll keep things moving but perhaps at a slower pace. And in case we get real close to the domination limit, we'll leave you the honor of delivering the coup de grace. ;)

I didn't play last night but will tonight.
