well anyway a look at the capital
blue44kp.jpg

not bad?
well after buildng a warrior the ai gve me this choice.
blue51ov.jpg

well building a barracks would then give me the option of probably a worker or archer, soi couldn't take that risk.

an overview. with the explore button on i didn't discover much.

sorry forgot that allways happens, need somthing to remind me.
remember the save

Loaded the save, had a quick look around. Objectives? Well, get a worker to start some improvements and build a city wherever the copper appears. Something about mice comes to mind, so here we go.

3100-2620 Ho hum, 24 gold from a hut, wow! Hello Hatty, how are you? Bye bye wolves.

2590BC

A date long to be remembered in the annals of Chinese history. Firstly, we research Bronze Working. Where to from here, well how about Animal Husbandry or Masonry, neither the best nor the worst choices. I go Animal Husbandry as its more likely to be useful in our second city.

As for that city, here comes the settler. OK, I'm keen to build a worker to get some work happening around here. Another warrior would be all right, even a settler would be all right. What does the AI think? Glad you asked.

A SCOUT!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!

Gee, with barbarian animals (and soon to be warriors) roaming freely that's a great choice. Thanks. Rulez is rulez though and we will soon have a scout.

Anyway, after I calm down from the AI stupidity its time to see where the bronze is so we can start our second city.

Lets see, none over here. Have a look up there, no none there either. That's OK, it'll surely be....... WTH!!! There is no Bronze visible anywhere on our map. Unbelievable!!! Makes not being able to go for horses, iron or archery even worse tech wise.

OK, time to leave 2590BC (remember the year) behind as a bad memory.

2560 - Hello Issy!

2530 - Shanghai founded here.

civ4screenshot00010ze.jpg
[/IMG]

With no copper around, seemed like the best option. Although with no workers as well, the gold is useless. Only choice of build in Shanghai was warrior.

2500-2320BC Another ho hum period. We lose the exploring warrior to a lion.

2290 - Our immortal scout is born (I give him 5 turns to live). I send him up into the great unknown to bust some fog. We have a choice of barracks or settler. With no workers don't need another settler so go barracks.

2260 - Animal Husbandry done, Fishing (in 5) or Pottery (in 9) are the choices. Neither are any good to us NOW! I go fishing just because its quicker and we might get a better choice next time.

2200 - I was wrong by 2 turns, the scout gets eaten by a panther. Shanghai produces warrior starts barracks.

So, unable to achieve any of his goals Ozbenno resigns his mandate to hand on to frankor for 30 turns. Have fun

Sorry about the images. I'll figure it out eventually.

Two rule clarifications I was unsure of.

When we researched BW and got the option to revolt to slavery, do we have to obey these??? I was going to revolt anyway (and did) but for future ref???

Are we able to crack the whip in this game? If so, strongly recommend the whip for barracks in Beijing. We need a worker.

We also at this stage need to be nice to our close neighbour Mr Bonaparte.

Add another lurker to that. This looks like it will be funny at very least :p

wow lurkers, i was expecting after not many people joined their would be only few but thanks, we have around 250 views so not hat bad.
any way frankor up for 30 turns
just incase you were just scrolling through fast

Wow, I almost missed that! ;)

I'll download, play and post this evening.

On settlers, I was thinking that we could chose the direction, but once we got to the edge of our borders, we'd have to chose the first blue circle (or 1 of 2 if given a choice) that appears.

On revolts, I say we have to take the AI suggestion. But that doesn't mean we can't change on our own as soon as the minimum time frame passes. This is especially true when we end up getting 2 new Civics from which to chose but responding to the suggested revolt only permits us one choice.

I definitely think whipping violates neither the substance nor spirit any of our rules.

Yes definitely we are after all whipping in what the AI has recommended :D so ensuring what the "computer knows best" happens quickly so fully in the spirt of the game. Genuinely looking forward to my turnset.

Congrats :goodjob: on an entertaining theme

Turn 0 (2200 BC) I think our wounded warrior, with Woodsman I sitting on top of a forested hill, should be able to defend against that lion. I leave him fortified. I also set my options to automate workers and workboats and auto-promote units.

IBT:
While defending, Warrior defeats (0.90/2): Barbarian Lion

Turn 1 (2170 BC) :coffee:

Turn 2 (2140 BC)
Tech learned: Fishing

Turn 3 (2110 BC)
Research begun: Mysticism or Writing -- I go for the culture choice.

Turn 4 (2080 BC) :coffee:

IBT:
While defending, Warrior defeats (1.60/2): Barbarian Wolf (this is our garrison unit hanging out near the cities)

Turn 5 (2050 BC)
Shanghai grows: 2

Turn 6 (2020 BC)
Beijing grows: 4

Turn 7 (1990 BC) coffee

Turn 8 (1960 BC)
Tech learned: Mysticism

IBT:
Contact made: Russian Empire

Turn 9 (1930 BC)
Research begun: Masonry or Meditation

Turn 10 (1900 BC) coffee

Turn 11 (1870 BC) coffee

Turn 12 (1840 BC) coffee

IBT:
Judaism founded in a distant land Peter and Hatshepaut adopt Slavery.

Turn 13 (1810 BC) A popup whines about no defense in Bejing.

sand1.jpg

Duhh, you think?!?!

Turn 14 (1780 BC) coffee

IBT: Isabella adopts Organized Religion

Turn 15 (1750 BC)
Tech learned: Masonry
Beijing's borders expand
OOoooohhh, a promotion opportunity arises for our explorer in the north:

sand2.jpg

IBT:
While defending, Warrior defeats (1.40/2): Barbarian Warrior

And the result:
sand3.jpg

Turn 16 (1720 BC)
Warrior promoted: Combat I bleccchhh -- Woodsman II was the obvious desired outcome. Do we really want to let the AI chose promotions?

Research begun: Pottery

Turn 17 (1690 BC) coffee

Turn 18 (1660 BC) I stop growth in Bejing with 1 turn left to grow and 2 turns left on barracks, I'll let it grow when we start the archer, then whip it good.

Turn 19 (1630 BC) coffee

Turn 20 (1600 BC) I turn on growth and whip the archer for 2 pop. Growth and archer in 1 turn. :whipped:
sand4.jpg

IBT:
While defending, Warrior defeats (1.16/2): Barbarian Warrior (our explorer in the north)

Turn 21 (1570 BC)
Beijing finishes: Barracks

sand4.jpg

Turn 22 (1540 BC)
Beijing grows: 3
Beijing finishes: Archer

Turn 23 (1510 BC)
Shanghai grows: 3
Archer promoted: City Garrison I
Beijing begins: Stonehenge
Tech learned: Pottery

I send our warrior who has been garrisoning both cities to explore the ice in the south. Maybe, just maybe we can find some copper down there?

Turn 24 (1480 BC)
Research begun: Writing or Meditation

Shanghi whines about not being defended. I let it add an Archer to the queue. Leaving the cities empty may be considered an exploit to our rules in that the AI will ask if we want to build defenders. But with 1 archer for 2 cities, I leave him parked between the two.

Turn 25 - 29 :coffee:

Turn 30 (1330 BC) awaits

Our illustrious empire -- uh oh, there goes the neighborhood. And our chance of getting horses:

Spoiler :

Whoa, Too much coffee ;) I gotta go take a leak.

Its not really an exploit because if we do it later in the game (when we'd be trying for an exploit), we'll be taking a happiness hit (-2 or -3).

For every action, a reaction.
