Theres just a very subtle little thing seperating us, which Ive been having trouble getting across since the first page. If we're exploring a brand new world, and as you said in the other post, we only have information about a ridiculously small sample of planets, on what do we base our assumptions? Thats why taking our Earth assumptions with us wouldnt help us at all, theyd be a hindrance. We know Jack Schitt about planets, and even less about life (one planet with life, and counting). Whats wrong with saying, 'We dont know'. Because in truth, we really dont know.
Hmmm...looks like a picture I saw the other day of old plates taken from a shipwreck. But Im going to take a wild guess and say its some sort of crystalline thing. 'I dont know'.Would you say that this is man-made or natural?
Or a third, like [lets hold off on putting a label on it until we've actually gathered some data].
