I just installed the new patch and now the game crashes immediately when I try to load my saved game. I can start a game normally but my old saved game seems to be dead. Is there anything I can do to salvage it?
Hey guys,
As some of you already know, today’s 1.0.0.62 patch introduced an incompatibility with save games created on older versions of the game for those of you who have the Digital Deluxe edition of Civilization V.
We have identified the issue and are currently working on a hotfix. Unfortunately, this fix will not be ready for release by the end of the day today. I don’t have any specific ETA for the hotfix, but I am sure that it will not release before Monday.
The good news is that the fix will allow you to load your old saves once it is released, so if you hang on to those saves you will be able to continue them soon.
We’re really truly sorry for the inconvenience, and I will keep you updated if anything changes or when I get a firm ETA.
Also note that this only applies to the Digital Deluxe edition of the game. Players of the Standard edition should be able to load their old saves just fine.
No, only Firaxis can do something.
Out of interest: do you have the Deluxe Version with Babylon?
Because then it's known and they are working at the problem.

I'm having the same problem, but no Deluxe Version here. Although, when I start the game, I have the option to "explore deluxe soundtrack" in addition to dx9/dx10...
I dont have the delux version, just the store bought vanilla CIV 5 version, and the game works fine, but when I try to load a saved game it just crashes!! out of the fire into the frying pan![]()
For the non deluxe versions: Try to delete everything in My Documents\My Games\Civ5\Cache and try it again.
...'Players of the Standard edition should be able to load their old saves just fine.'
I loaded a saved game from turn 179, i played till turn 217 and it crashed again!! what can i do???? (huge territory, full screen)
That isn't a patch problem. That sounds like another technical problem.
