Saved game transfers?

I am both new to civ and the forum.
I started playing civ4 because I got a free pirate one off a friend but naturaly the graphics are distorted and only 3 of the in-game songs made it.
I have ordered a Real version of the game which should arrive this wednesday but I would like to know if my saved games will be kept on the real version. I would hate to lose 6500 or so game years from my only game. NOTE: I do not have a pirate disk, just the game on the computer.

The saves are stored under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meiers Civ\Saves or so.

Thanks, I will check if they are under the same place with the pirated version or if I will have to save it somewhere else.....
