In my IE, whenever I right-click on a pix to 'save as', it will only enable me to save as a .bmp file. Is there any way to change this to save as other files, such as .jpg, .gif etc? Thanks.

Tools>Internet Options

Under "Temporary Internet Files" heading, click the button "Delete Files"

i'd just type in the other extension. try it anyway.

Doesn't seem to work... getting back the same option...

Not only I can't save it as other than a .bmp file, the file is also set as 'untitled'...

Yes.

I remember being able to save it like normal; this only begins happening nowadays... Don't know what I did.

Hey, I tried and now I can save as a .jpg file! :hmm:

1) Which version of IE are you using? Have you applied all the updates of IE?

2) You can drag images from IE window to your folders.

3) In IE6, when you save an image, it can save the image in original format and .bmp only. Perhaps the image you're trying to save is a Bitmap originally?

4) MSPaint (and also the image previewer in XP) can open and save many image formats. Save as BMP then convert it.

I like this answer. Get Mozilla Firefox, a million time better then IE ever will be.

sorry, but mozilla is just underground thing.
go to windowsupdate.com with mozilla or any else web page with activex.

Right click the image, click 'copy' and then paste it into a digital imaging program such as photoshop or psp or the gimp or paint or whatever you want to use. Then save as a jpeg or gif.

It shouldwork for you to have the file save as a jpeg or gif (or the original format for that matter) but it's possible your IE is bugged, or you just need to apply the updates.

Sometimes if the image has not completed to load, IE does this.

avant browser is IE based.

No kidding man. That's why it's 100% compatible with everything. It's a freeware improved and enhanced version of IE. The fact that it has built in popup blocking, increased security, safe recovery and is the fastest browser are all valid reasons to ditch IE.

The reason I've been trying all these different browsers is because my old man is completely computer illiterate and this browser is the easiest browser for him to use. Now I don't have format C: every other week anymore. :D Or listen to him explain over the phone how the latest sexpopup won't go away. :p

You still need it installed, right? But maybe IE is a prerequisite to run the latest windows versions anyway?

How can it be faster than IE, if that is what it's based on?

You need IE 5.5 or higher installed but you can use both at the same time if you like. Avant is just a modified version of IE on steroids and much faster. The tabbed browsing feature is really the coolest thing about it though. You can also uninstall it in the unlikely event that you think it's worse. Something you can't do as easily with IE.
