SCENARIO: Age of Imperialism; 1895-1924, Deluxe Version 2016-10-05

@ Angelle,
What map are you using?
Playing as Germany I don't see those Dutch cities.
@ El justo,
Wow, great new version!

@ El justo,
Wow, great new version!

Angellus has modified his version of AoI to separate Dutch & Belgians from each other. He has now two easily conquered (well, for me as Germany :mischief:) small nations with nice colonies.

I have a question.. there is one song that I know i've heard before but I have no idea what it is and its very catchy..
And it wasn't in version three. Its like a marching band song. With no words :P I know it's kind of vague but I would like to know what it is.
Also I haven't change this at all either.

Try listening some of the mp3 files in AoI/Sounds and see which file is the song you're talking about. They have been named by the songs. :)

there are two (2) exe files in that No Raze Patch folder; one is for Civ3Conquests and the other is for Civ3Complete. you have to match up the correct file to the type of Civ3 that you're running. now, i know for sure that they both work b/c the testers used both variations. i would try to reinstall it...b/c it can be tricky to get going (although the included ReadMe should help).

I used the one for CivComplete as I'm having the CivComplete instead of conquests. I'll check again to ensure its correct.

Ranger,
you need to add it into the Music.txt file. can't guarantee it will work though...as the Sounds folder can be fickle at times. but that is where you need to go to add stuff in (2 places, the txt file and placing the actual songs in the Build folder).

Thanks, that did the trick. :goodjob:

Seconding the No Raze patch apparently not working (Using Complete). There's a destroyed city in Russia, now. :/

For those that are seeing destroyed cities, when you take a city, is it giving you the option to raze it? If it is, then the patch is not in correctly.

Started a game as US in ver. 4.0 a couple of days ago and WOW! It's even better than it was when I had to drop out of the beta test group a couple of months ago. It's so good I had to force myself to take a break to send the post. Good job, El-j et al.!!

Really? It was my understanding that the human player always had the option to raze, even with the No-Raze patch, and it was simply a house-rule not to.

Wow, I had no idea it was released already, I will download it first thing tomorrow! :w00t:   (Not home tonight so I can't).

Can't wait to play an uber hard game and see how long it takes for me to win (or lose ). For smaller civ's I wonder if they have a chance to win with the given time limit? (I can't remember what it was said the time limit is). Strategy galore!

Yea, wolf brother has it right... the no-raze keeps the AI from razing cities, but the player always gets the option.

I had the option to raze the city. I copy and pasted CivConquest2.exe from the "Conquest No Raze Patch" folder from the AoI folder to ensure I did it correctly. Followed the ReadMe closely.

Well, I know I can run the game without the CD (which the patch was supposed to enable), so it's at least partially in. But yeah, I've been getting the option to raze cities when I take them - never tried it since I figured the patch was working correctly and it simply wouldn't destroy the city.

EDIT: Angelle, looks like we've got similar plans! Except I went for Panama a bit earlier and haven't bothered with the rest of SA yet. Going after the Balkans in 1902.

The canal is priceless. Without it, I would not have been able to go after the Philippines and China.:goodjob:

EDIT: Attacked Belgium and just realized that my French allies has razed one city. :(

good to see you here tom :)

if you guys are getting the raze option when taking over a city then the patch is not installed correctly.

here is the exact wording in the Read Me that i wrote for TCW 50s - note the renaming of the file w/ the 2 on the end:

No Raze Patch

29 March 2008

Install Instructions:

~~ very easy - first, go into the Civilization III/Conquests directory and
rename the Conquests.exe to Conquests ORIG. It's ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE that you do this back-up procedure.

~~ cut the corresponding no raze file in this folder. now, the one that corresponds for
you depends on what type of civ3 conquests you have on your computer. the one with the 2
on the end is Civ3Complete. the one without is Civ3 Conquest. so be sure to use the
appropriate no raze file and make certain that you name the new exe file exactly the same as your original one.

~~ it's VERY IMPORTANT that you back up the original Conquests exe file!

If the no-raze patch is in, NO ONE gets the option to raze a city; human or otherwise.

One other thing to double check and make sure of is if you are using desktop shortcuts, that they go to the correct file. It should if you follow the directions, but just something else that might be causing issues.

re Panama Canal:

this is one of the biggest in-game changes we made to the map. now, we 'closed' it up b/c in reality, having control of the isthmus was very well the single most imprtant objective of US foreign policy after the Sp-Am War and into the first years of the 20th cent. it is/was so important that TR, in his memoirs, claims that his best achievement as POTUS was the canal.

now, from a strategic PoV, it has some ripple effects. the US now has a different landscape to conquer (and ship RMs, land troops, rail nets, etc). and perhaps most strikingly, all civs now must traverse Cape Horn at the southern tip of S America. so the civ that has control of the isthmus has a real nicve short cut :)

Okay, question then: If the name of the .exe is the same (Civ3Conquests), does it matter that the "File Description" is different (both the No-Raze patches say "Civ3Conquests," while the one with the game says "Civ3Complete")? Further, both the No-Raze patches are some 3.23 MB in size, while the original is 6. And it's not the shortcut - I deleted the original one and made one using the new one.
