[SCENARIO] World War I

The scenario starts in 1914. By setting weeks instead of months and the end date in 1918 it provides around 200 turns. By finishing in 1920 ( as it is set now) it was more than 300 turns which is very long.

played as austro-hungary. they are in great position with a weak enemy to their south and a slow enemy to their northeast. i only played about 4 turns, after which i got fed up with the financial situation. but in that time i managed to conquer all of serbia and was starting to move units to the russian front. before i had switched my civics, i had to drop my research rate to 10%. after i switched from police state to representation and emancipation to serfdom, i was basically screwed. at 100% tax i was still running a deficit of -49 per turn, just because of that slight switch. needless to say my country went on strike and i wouldn't have enough time to switch back before my entire army and economic infrastructure disappeared.

i know austro-hungary had it bad off due to political instability and mounting dissolution due to a war that seemed to go nowhere, but the horsehockey economic situation you seem to put them in (even before my massive civic miscalculation) doesn't seem to represent this appropriately. i mean hell, i was beginning to kick some ass, and the war weariness was already wearing heavy on me 4 turns in. since this scenario is nothing but a war, maybe turning the war weariness down a bit might be advisable. just my two cents. otherwise, a very nice scenario, but not too fun playing the austro-hungarians.

It should only affect the number of turns needed.

That's what I figured, I don't suppose there's anyway to slow tech progression with slowing anything else (ie gamespeed)?

You'd have to change either the research cost of specific techs or the rate at which research is completed at each of the difficulty levels. These are internal XML changes (not options that can easily be set before a game for example).

I'm playing this scenario as Germany at warlord level. My first question is: what did you do with the zeppelins?? Germany developed them well before the war and made good use of them during the war e.g. bombing London. Put them in, please, in your next version.

Hey, guys! Is this thread dead?? The only message since January is mine 5 days ago. This is a good scenario that could be even better with a little work.

I don't know if it's me or what, but I can never get all the Mods I want to work to work. I was halfway through loading the mod, and some massive XML error thing goes off. I kept clicking the 'X', but the messages kept popping up. And, yes, I do have to most recent patch for BTS. I put in the right folder and everything, made sure I did have the patch, and all that. But no... Nothing every seems to work for me.

Heres what I did: I downloaded the thing, extracted it to me BTS mods folder, and started up the game. I went to Advanced, then to Load a Mod, and selected World War One. I was halfway through the start up when all these error messages popped up, and I couldn't get rid of them. I Ctrl+Alt+Del, and ended the program.

Does anyone know hwat went wrong?

Yeah, this is a Vanilla Civ 4 scenario, not BtS. Place it in your Civ 4/Mods directory, NOT Civ 4/BtS/Mods, and load in in plain old Civ 4, not BtS.

Hey i was wondering if there was any way to get rid of all the barbarians that keep popping up? Do i need to delete a file or what? Overall, this has been the best scenario ive seen so far (although ive just discovered this site). Thanks

You might be able to add a line in the map file for the No Barbarian option.

Thanks for the reply. Ive never made a mod or scenario before, where would I go to write this line in?
