[SCENARIO] World War I

Wow, Sarevok and Rocotech. There are 2 names I have not heard in quite some time. I wonder, if I say their names out loud 3 times, will they appear and volunteer to craft a kick-ass scenario?

Hehehe we could try to persuade them by posting in the thread of their "The great war" Civ3 Scenario ;)

I have now spent 4 years on Civ 3 scenario-creation.
My first scenario was the American Civil Scenario.
(Co-Creator. Procifica was creator.)

In fact both Sarevok and I planned WW1 and WW2 scenarios
for Civ 4. Then Civ 4 was released without an editor and those
plans were scrapped.

Since then Sarevok has quitted scenario-creation.
I am still around though.

Given that someone in the future produce an editor
its possible I will make a Civ 4 version of
The Great War - Division Level.

Rocoteh

It is a pleasure to see you here Rocotech. Quite sad that Sarevok has retired from scenario creation. I can only hope that someday an editor is produced so that you can think about moving forward on a kick-ass scenario. Happy holidays.

I looked into what it would take to craft a scenario or mod. Simply put, I just don't have the time to devote to learning as I go. However, with that said, I have a good amount of time off for the hoildays and would be interested in working with someone knowledgable on this project.

whats missing is a WW2 scenario with the european map....I did a map with Paasky but never came. I dont really care about modding the units. All I want is an accurate scenario. not 123 units and displaced cities...

anyone want to do one with me ? I can do the map (which I think i already have but I would do a new one with warlords

Good to see you here Rocoteh and sorry to hear about Sarevok!!
I sure hope someone can make an easy to use editor... I'm unfortunately not the right guy to ask about that :(

i tried to make a world map for a ww2 scenario, i removed the southern hemisphere completly, and mushed austrailia and the south pacific a bit to fit it all on. it wouldve worked great. im good with history so i knew were and what to do with cites and units, only downside to it was that Civ4 maps i couldnt make larger than normally alowable (i did this orrigonally for Civ3) im also good with how to recognise that you DONT fill a stupid mod with 1234702347 units and silly little animations that only change a hat.

my map was a copy n paste of the ww2 in the pacific and had the wrapping turned off. the western USA started at the farr right of the map, and the farr right of the map was a little slither of the eastern coast, along with some canadian cities. the middle was then made into euroasia, with a 2 tile narrow point in north africa (like in trips ww1 africa) it wouldve worked greatly. damn shame civ4 maps dont exceed a certain size :(

well Maxriga have a good world map scenario of ww2. What I really want is a map like the civ 2 ww2 scenario from the Ural to Bretagne and Finland to Morocco...I think i'll do one with no mod. I guess it is simple if you dont had units

This is awesome... but... am I mistaken or is it impossible for Italy to win?

Lemme know if I'm wrong... but they seem unable to make a permanent alliance with either side... is it possible to make a trigger where if they declare war on either side they are added to the other alliance?

continue playing at a certain point Italy joins France,UK and russia than the USA...

I tried playing with the French. I managed to take Brussel but this is all...I played with germany and I conquered france, UK and half the territory of russia and i'm not finished there is like 40 turns remaining and moscow already fell. So Italy...that must be a challenge

play the scenario as the french..I think strassbourg changed hands 15 times from 1914 to 1917. One thing though. Rebels. no fun at all...it reminded me of CIV 3 and cleaning pollution with workers. long and dull...

Regarding the rebels -- indeed, they're a complete, total, and absolute pain, they don't add anything to the game either as flavor or even as a challenge, and they make no sense at all. Here I have a stack of fortified troops, and "POOF!" They get magically displaced by a lousy basic infantry rebel unit that just happen to appear in the same space. That sucks!

It's a shame because this is otherwise a good scenario.

i used the rebels as fodder for my infantry to get that extra xp so they could get that second promotion (starting with 4xp). then they got shipped to the front, with 2 promotions already.

It's one way to look at it. I'd rather not have to contend with them at all -- the tedium of constantly hunting them down isn't worth the extra XP's early on, IMO.

Immediate switch to vassalage is better.

I think St Petersbourg was the capital and not Moscow (later in 1917 with lenin).

The map is very intersting, even i'v made some changes, middle east and russia, +add some cities in russia, too empty.
More i replace two tiles by ocean in bosphore and dardanelle, that open the detroits to russia, can enter in mediterranea, lock this detroit was a big deal for great britain & ottoman empire in there russia "containment".

So defenitly i like big maps.
If you can make a world map at the same scale as this, it will be realy interesting and more realistic.

Yes it will probably a one year for a tour game... :D

With automate options it will be possible maybe ?, like choose doctrinne, government, religion and so, then the country automaticaly developpe itself, like people driving they own life, and You (the player) just have to manage diplomacy, trade, productions, researchs, build armies, and focus on policy & strategy.
You could see people build cities and improvments at the right place at the right moment (depend of the nation You choose), then just put a few change as you like or let the people do.
And You became the Great leader...

But very big map and photorealistic terraformation will be for Civ 4 (& Warlords) the next generation of Civ...

Is it a dream ?
