I have just Civ III, not Play the World or Conquests, and I was wondering if there were any scenarios or modified games that I could play. I saw some really good ones, but they all had instructions to put the folder in the conquests/scenarios folder, so I'm assuming that you need the conquests expansion to do this. I'm sorry if this has been covered (I saw something like this), but I didn't understand the instructions. Please, if someone could help me I would be grateful but I will need step by step instructions. Thankyou :)

Hello, welcome :wavey:

I guess you've already looked around the Creation and Customization forums here. I'm sure there will be some old scenarios for Civ3 "vanilla", but they will mostly be five or more years old, as that's when Play the World came out. If you really want to play scenarios, and if you can afford it, then it would be worth buying a copy of Civ3 Complete for Mac. There are many more scenarios you'd have access to, and it's also much easier to install scenarios in Play the World and Conquests than it is in Vanilla.

Ok, thanks for your advice. I'll think about it...I'm not sure if it's worth me buying it cos I don't play very regularly (I'm on holidays now). And I'll check the earlier pages of the forums to see if I can find any for the regular game (I don't mind if they're old).
Thanks again (and you replied really quickly!)

Greetings! There are vanilla versions of TAM (The Ancient Mediterranean) and DYP (Double Your Pleasure) that work on a Mac. It's been so long since I installed them that I don't remember the all details; basically I had to install a separate version of the whole game for each mod.

Do a search for DYP in this forum, as there have been previous threads on it, describing how to install it. It changes a lot in the game - civs, units, tech tree, game balance, and emphasises slower development, particularly in the ancient era.

ok, thanks. What's double your pleasure?

Double the types of units, double the buildings, double the techs to research, double the time to advance... at least it seems like that. I find it fun to play, because the wealth of choices forces me to think about my style of play, and how to develop to best deal with my neighbors and the randomly generated map.
