The Dwarf principalities from the lands of always winter: Bearded, axe wielding, hard drinking Dwarves from the north, rebellious miners, downtrodden halfling serfs and goblin Cossacks from the sauromatian steppe frontier.
-edit-
When the old world was engulfed by the field of mushooms, those few who were lucky or priviledged retreated to undergound vaults, oblivious to the effects of the long winter on the surface. Most communities endured those long centuries in isolation and subsisted as best they could. Some didn't make it -they succumbed to canibalism and regessed to the state of mindless beasts. Some managed to make it somehow and were stunted into weak half men, the halflings, in the proccess . Those few who decided to accept their new fate dug ever deeper for resources, expanded and even thrived. Hard work and high pressues made them strong in body and will. But they grew greedy, and dug too deep. They found something. Something that wasnt meant to be found. They were driven back to the surface of Urth and kept their secret. They emerged as the Dwarves.

@Tanelorn According to friends of mine in my area who are ethnically Cree (an Indigenous Canadian ethnicity who occupy a large traditional homeland and straddle cultural and lifestyle aspects, traditionally, of the Plains and more Northerly (but not Inuit) cultural groups), Wendigo is used as an insult in their language today, though the ones I spoke to had no idea on the providence or origin of it as such.

My understanding is wendigos are cannibalistic monsters, so I can see it translating as a general insult for greed (cough cough oil companies). For the longest time I thought 'skin-walker' was a catch-all for North American shapeshifters, but at least in Navajo tradition it refers specifically to malevolent witches.

The more you know...

Very interesting guys. Food for thought.
satyr-city-states-png.466607

Having shaken the goblin yoke only recently, the Satyr hoplites of the bright land and the Centaur companions of Thessaly are given to excessive lust and chaotic revelry. They are split between their many city states. Will they follow king Constantwhine and his dark forest goblin wife (sister of goblin king Bigphlegm) or his pro elf councilor Veryjealous?

Best Byzantium 101 ever. :rotfl:

Anyway, the Vampire counts of Transylvania:
Morlocks are the devolved descendants of the fallen race of man. Averse and vulneable to the light of sun, they exit their ancient vaults (fallout shelters) at night to prey on the living. Unlike their feral brethren, the Vampires of Transylvania have retained both their sentience and the unspeakable secrets of the ancient world, through which they enjoy unnaturaly long "lifespans". They excercise a level of control over their kin, through sheer willpower. However, when their ghoulish thrals expire, they raise them from the dead as shambling, unquestioning zombies. The longer they remain at this state, they become virtual undead automata, capable of.complex functions, as their ancient magic (virus? nanobots?) takes complete control of their withering bodies.
The terrifying implication is that no race may be immune to their vile touch.
The presense of Morlocks in far away Albion raises dangerous questions about the true nature and intentions of Sidhe Elves, among the few who can know such terrible secrets. The similarities between them are unnerving.
Vampire agents are already present in the Elven court, some speculate -weaving their web of lies and deceit.

The Bull-men of Tarshish next.

Bull-men of Tarshish. Minotaurs of Tartessos. Locked in eternal civil war...

The Gnome Legions of Hesperia next. Or hobgoblins. I am split bettween the two. Pinoccio though...
Or even the inquisition...

Tanelorn, Thorvald and Erika - these are great :goodjob:

I've been doodling a bit recently, inspired by TW Warhammer; here are the results - WH Empire knights and State troops. The steam tank is a bit kak but I'm rusty...

Loving these units you're making T - are they inspired by another game?

And yes, sort of, to the Carolus update question. I got a bit sidetracked and turned them into WH units instead lmao.

I forgot to post this chappy before. Apparently he's riding a Demigryph, although he looks a bit Bernie Clifton to me.

I'll bite. Whose Bernie Clifton?

Google is your friend Patine - I think you'll see what I mean if you do image search the late great Bernie!

I'm loving your Curtsibling 'toon inspired units Tanelorn. Fantastic idea amd great units. Do you have a link to the cartoon? I have been looking but I'm new to Deviant Art and hjaven't worked out how to navigate efficiently yet.

Great to see you back and posting new work Fairline. Always a pleasure.

@Fairline This is one magnificent emperor. Or is it the god king Trump? Cant tell with the helmet and all...
@Fairline & @McMonkey No, it is all in my head. I am making things up as I go. Curt made "my little pony" nazis and I thought, nice.
