Whats the difference between the scout and the explorer (except for the cost) as both units have the same stats (0/0/2). Do the explorers have extra benefits as they cost more?

Thanks in advance.

They can move three land squares regardless of movement points (i.e. over three mountains). Pretty big advantage if you're just interested in exploring.

I never understood the point of explorers, by the time you get navigation, all the land has been explorered and most likely already settled...so any clue as to why they are even in the game????....

Ha! I always felt the same way. I never used them in Civ2. Maybe with expansion being more costly in Civ3, on a huge map, with only a few civs.... I might use them. Have to wait and see.

Yeah, I suppose having alot less civs than 12 might make them useful for a short while where land its all settled already...
