screen resolution on xp?

Alright here is the thing:

My hard drive crashed two day's ago so everything lost. Got a new hard drive and instead of win98 I now have Win XP on my computer.
The first thing to do was installing civ of course. Civ3 and then C3C. But when I run it, my screen resolution changes to a size my monitor (or my graphics card?) can't handle. So i get a VERY strange screen.

But the thing is, on win98 the game ran perfectly so it is something with XP. The screen resolution of my computer is standard 1024x768 so the game should work!

I have a:
AMD 1800+
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 model 64 - 32 mb ram

Anyone knows how i can fix this???

btw: i run windows XP pro!

Look in the Civ.ini file, and change the line keepRes=0 to KeepRes = 1.

That might fix it...

and there is not a standerd line with keepres=0, so i added it

I think its KeepRes=1 that you need.

send atari a mail, but i think i switch back to win98 i mean... i can't do withouth civ (but civ1 works perfectly on winXP )

Have you got the latest video drivers for your card? The XP ones will be different from the win98 ones. Do all other programs work OK? Is it a problme with both conquests & Civ?

i got newest drivers, problem with civ AND conquests, most of programs work ok, but haven't tried other games though (civ1 runs perfectly )

I'm running Win XP Pro right now, and it works fine. (although, the Domestic Advisor screen has purple text...)

i'm going to reinstall win98, i cannot live without civ...
