screen resolution size?

Hi, I bought Civ III from Half-price Books and have just installed it on my computer.

Only one problem so far: When I start up a game in Civ 3 it shrinks my screen resolution(?) to 800x600 (or something like that). In the game I can tell I'm missing a little something along the left side of the screen. When I minimize back to IE browser the best I can see along the left side is the Edit menu.

When I went to my Control Panel and increased the screen resolution it crashed Civ 3.

Can someone clue me in, please?

Civ3 runs (by default) at 1024x768. If you normally use a higher resolution, go to the civilization.ini file and add the line

KeepRes=1

This instructs the game to use your existing resolution, and you won't have the problems you speak of.
