I just got the UHV as Pericles. (Monarch).

Build order was Colossus, switched to Oracle immediately upon hitting Priesthood, back to Colossus, then Parthenon, then Great Library. Then Temple of Artemis for the research boost, then Leaning Tower for the GP boost so I could get even more science. I ended up with multiple great scientists; had an Academy in both cities and a super specialist GS in both (as well as multiple Great Merchants in Athenai.

I could probably have one-city'd it; I made a save before I made the settler so I could go back and see if I can pull off a one-city Pericles UHV.

Yes, if you're still playing the old patch Greece starts out with one settler and workboat, and I used to just have Athens building all the wonders.

I think Greece is much more fun with the new setup. It gives you lots of choice for a second city/squatted capital and definitely encourages a bit of empire building, whereas in the initial release it was far too tempting to treat the Greek UHV as a one city challenge. Nothing wrong with that of course, and Athens is a fantastic builder city, but it's not as much fun IMO :)

Bah, I'm never gonna hear the end of it if I keep playing what came with the game am I?

Looks like I'm off to go get the update.

EDIT: Doesn't work, crashes when map loads. Back to the builtin one for me.

^ Clearing your civ cache may fix it. Or changing the permissions on the unzipped files, depending how you unzipped them.

I don't have the updated Civ, and can't get it (unless there's a reliable way to get it w/o Firaxis) and I assume that's causing the problem.

You need to patch the game to play the latest versions

Europe divided by two great powers: Russia (me) and Turkey.

This is the best Turkish AI I've ever seen.

Sorry chococid, I hope you saw that before it got deleted. I'm not going to risk getting hit with a banstick by posting it again.

Ethiopian China, that is strange! Also Islam Incan civ kind of rare too.

Don't know if I've ever seen a game that late where none of the Europeon civs or America are in the top 4.

That's why I always vote yes (even for my enemies) when it comes to other people's cities in congresses.

A funny thing I noticed in my current German game. At first glance, it all looks fairly normal for a late game where the Vikings collapsed early on.

But wait a minute... what's that??

It was actually built as late as 1340AD. I never knew the Vikings were so literary!
