I thought I would share with you all some screenshots of an unusually expansionist development of the world from my current Russian game.
First of all here's me:
Things are trundling along quite nicely, I've finally taken top score spot from the Germans. We've just had a world congress which gained me Wilna, although unfortunately it also lost me Cluj-Napoka (Kalosvar) - not a problem normally, and I was perfectly happy to lose it as it was massively culture crushed by the Germans (I got it in a previous congress), but unfortunately the stupid Turk UP has taken Kiev's pigs
Anyway, here's North America:
It's looking mighty French now, but before the US spawned there were no less than four different European civs who'd founded cities (Lynden included). This is the first time I can recall seeing the Germans with NA cities that weren't produced from conquerors.
Speaking of conquerors, the Mayans were taken out by the Vikings and the Aztecs by the English, but they respawned some time ago.
South America:
Again slightly more colonised than is usual, with Spain and Portugal making plentiful claims - note the two crappy Spanish cities sitting within two spaces at the tip of Argentina. Vikings hit the Incas, but were content to vassalize them.
Africa:
Behold the Dutch empire! Note also Arabian India - Arabia was high in score for a long time, and I think they must have held Persia as well until they respawned, and maybe Egypt too.
Finally, Australia and Indonesia:
The part I was really pleased to see - significant colonisation of Australia and Indonesia by no less than four civs! England and the Netherlands have settled on Australia and there's more Arabian expansion, much more than I usually see. Plus there's those cheeky Germans once again.
All in all I'm very pleased to see how far the world has been colonised - I think there has been something of a lack of wars which probably helped. It's only 1817, so hopefully there'll be some colonisation still to come!
