Holiest city on earth.

How did you do that? Listening Moskau?

Yay! +1 movement points for the Independents!

Pfft, who needs 1+ movement points? They've got a Golden Age already!

The independents didn't agree with Persia.

The foolish Dutch always seem to leave Amsterdam undefended for some reason in my games... generally it causes them to collapse once it's taken. Not this time:
Civ4ScreenShot0006.JPG
And they hung onto that for, say 50 turns or so before collapsing.

Anyone care to explain this logic?

:D

The same thing happens in Egypt and Carthage (Alexandria instead of Cairo and Mellila instead of Alger\Tripoli)

The furthest city west always becomes the capital of a revived civ, I think, with a possible exception if they have a city in their starting plot. That's why Cairo never becomes capital. It would be nice if that could be fixed.

3 remarkable things on this screenshot:

1. The Natives fume in their reservation and regret signing a peace treaty with the Mayans 200 years ago. (They will be kicked off to Canada soon)
2. The Christian city was razed by barbarians, and the whole world (45%) is Islamic
3. My ongoing struggle to build a Mayan spaceship (I'm first in score but only because of my land and population). Russia has built 2 components already.

just curious wut dificulty lvl is that on?

Monarch...see the typically high scores that the other civs had. I just finished the spaceship (see other thread)

Got some cash from nonexistent walls (since my settler just landed on Asia Minor's shores). :p

(The free chariot was a flipped barb unit who just cashed some gold on my spawn, even though the goody hut is still there graphically. Probably a bug)

with the latest version of the mod it's easier to put together large blocks of alliances ... thus large scale world wars can happen.

Let's se at the conditions in 1787
civ4screenshot0000pm5.jpg

Colonial Alliance
England (with vassals: Russia and China)
defensive pact with:
- Dutch (with vassals: Khmer)
- Portuguese (at war against Japan)

Central Empires
Turks (with vassals: Greece, France)
Defensive pact with Germany (in defensive pact with Vikings)

Neutrals:
USA, Japan (not part of any alliance but at war with Portugal)

In this game I'm England and my vassals have been taken pacifically (Russia offered during a war against Germany and China required help against the Mongols).
My empire covers central america, most of central USA, a "strip" of africa from capetown up to Alexandria, and all of India.

Portugal controls almost all of south america, all iberic peninsula, north Italy, and several colonies.

The Dutch controls a couple of towns in Canada, several colonies in africa, asia and australia.

The Turks controls all eastern mediterranean, most of north africa, balkans, middle east, arabia, and the land that we can describe as Iran and Afganistan.

in 1787 my relations with the turkish are getting bad... France threaten the communications between Portugal and England.
Germany and the Vikings cut Europe in two making impossible to have a direct link between the western powers (Portugal-England-Netherland) with their allies and vassals in Asia.
The turkish occupation blocks the land routes between Russia and India.

The geopolitics was clear and finally England opens the hostilities invading Germany... world war starts!

It was very nice to see a real war between AI powers, not only human vs AI.
The Portugese conquered all of France (apart Brest).
The Khmer conquered Herat, the Turkish reconquered it, and finally the Russian got it.
The Dutch didn't do a lot on land, mostly they were killing the Viking navy (with very strong English help) and conquered Kalmar... then lost it to the Vikings (Vikings collapsed and Kalmar ended in Russian hands).
The Russian had to fight a nasty defensive war in Ukraine against a Turkish invasion army and take the offensive in Afganistan.

English troops took Berlin (then gifted to the Dutch) and from there moved south destroying every turkish town in the balkans, including Istanbul!
In asia the English started a huge pinch operation from Egypt and from India... most of the fighting was on the borders, until the turkish army was defeated and a full land "line" was conquered by the english uniting Egypt with india.

Domination victory for the English. :)

Yes it is, it adds a lot more to the late game and makes war so much more risky

Also makes it fun when congresses occur. If the human refuses to give up a hard won or settled city, the entire world can plunge into war.

So, do you think that WW should be mentioned in the main features of the mod? (in the first description lines, together with stability, plague etc.)

A consequence of a world war :D (Portugal and Germany were occupied in the same way)

Cool! Really cool. Althrough England seems a bit too weak in all BTS screenshots I've observed so far...
And it seems that BTS AI is really better, althrough I have a sneaking suspicion that "No City Razing" turned on does have a negative effect on AI ability to wage wars...

Look at my another Globe view with evidence of some interesting AI-on-AI wars in Warlords, "No City Razing" off:

Civ4ScreenShot0016.JPG

Look at what Holy German Islamic Empire did to poor Russia. Also, Germany did capture two Scandinavian cities.

Meanwhile, Independent and Barbarian Italy was a battleground between French and Spanish. Rome changed hands multiple times (kinda like real history).

And I also forgot to mentoin that Inverness was captured by Vikings, who declared war on Elgland to get it.

it's great to see this working. Maybe I should have advertised a bit more; it seems a great feature

They're great fun :D but when they are declared, if you don't want to wait for all of the DOW messages to come through and end the turn, all the war horns played all go off at the same time and are REALLY loud. The first time it happened it nearly blew my ears off!
