Scrub forest doesn't seem to be choppable, and only appears on deserts. But you can use spring to turn those deserts into plains, and the scrub forest stays. You can then build a farm without the forest chopping (and similarly, can't build a lumbermill). That gives a better square than can possibly occur "naturally". Is this intended? And where can I find more info on the terain types?

The whole point of terraforming spells (Spring, Scorch, Vitalize) is to obtain better tiles than 'naturally' occur. Your Scrub/Farm/Plains tile is only 1:hammers: better than a normal Plains/Farm tile, not a big deal. Things like Plains/Oasis (4:food:/1:hammers:/3:commerce:, I think) or Floodplains/Grassland/Farm/Agrarianism (8:food:/0:hammers:/1:commerce:) are far, far more powerful tiles.

And one commerce worse. If you have a forest or scrubs next to a river, you loose the river commerce (unless you build a lumbermill, then you get it back).

True, but such tiles are rare (especially floodplains/oasis). desert/scrub is common. And it wasn't clear to me that terraforming was about creating new tile types as opposed to changing the types to already possible, but better than current one.

well, the primary objective is proably to get rid of those damn ice/desert tiles. but grassland+floodplains is awesome too. a spell to morph hills into mountains and viceversa would be totally awesome. age of wonders had it and it was one of the coolest things. you could completely surround your cities with impassable terrain, and open up holes in the enemy mountain ranges for quick attacks. that was lots of fun. it shouldn't be that easy to code in too. Kael, are you reading this? :D

I believe that scrubs are typically associate with plains rather than forests, even though they do have low trees and bushes. I have heard of lots of scrub plains IRL. I believe this is why they are not choppable. You'd get very little useful lumber from such a place. This seems to be working as intended. Just think scrub plains and not scrub forests and it makes sense.

They should probably give +1 commerce on a riverside, I think that would be a good way to make it nicer.
