Sup Civfanatics. So I'm playing standard Pangaea map as Oda on Prince, Marathon speed, with pretty much normal settings, no ruins.

By stroke of luck, Kyoto spawned pretty close to the fountain of youth, so I upgraded three warriors with double speed healing and rushed Suleiman's capital; just took it over and stole a worker to boot.

Question is, what do I do now? :s Never pulled off a warrior rush before. I've got another worker from that one policy, and only one happiness thanks to my new puppet state. A settler is about half-finished in Kyoto; do I settle? Is a growing population more important at the early stage than 3 cities? So far I've got a monument, 2 workers, and Istanbul which is producing nothing atm.

My general plan for later is to rush Samurai and blitz the balls out of everyone, but I don't wanna shoot my city development/economy in the foot by settling too early.

Secure land, explore and trade with AIs for luxuries and RAs. Take a tech lead advantage, and see if you want to go for a domination phase followed to an exact way to finish the game.

Updaaaate.

Ok, so I've puppeted Istanbul, and settled Osaka. At 2 unhappiness but that should fix itself when gem mine finishes.

Delhi is looking tempting atm, only 3 population and 9 shields; Istanbul only had 9 shields when my warriors took it down. It'll be max 10 shields by the time I get all 3 of my warrs there. Is there such a thing as too many cities in the early game? And should I just not be declaring so much this early? I read in a thread that the civs will start a denouncefest and war me all at once if I declare ~3 times.

Screw the denoucements, its their own fault for being too weak to keep their grubby hands on power. Take it out if you can, but personally i would take six warriors to attack the second city. preferably with great general if one spawned.

But since u have double healing it might be possible to take it with three warriors, my experience of warring that early with double healing is limited aka, never had that promo with warriors yet. xD

im realy new here but welcome to the forums. About your game.. its yours and play it the way you like, but do what makes sence

Hehe, the double healing was actually a promotion I got from just having my warriors touch the fountain of youth; apparently it's actually a fountain of regeneration. :p During the siege of Delhi, which put up walls, my warriors got medic and even one march promotion, and started healing 4-5 damage per turn (the march guy healing even after attacking!). :crazyeye:

I never paid much attention to this in other games - how much income does a road between a city+your capital give? There are about 12 tiles going from Delhi to the nearest city, and if I connect those I can connect Mumbai which is a more profitable 4 tiles apart. Is the road income based on population, etc, or is it just a standard income per city connected? Would it be worth it to make 16 road tiles for 2 connected cities?

Keep in mind also that I'm probably gonna get declared by everyone once I conquer Persia and I'll have to fight on two fronts, idk if the mobility will be any help. On the plus side, my 3 brave warriors are now uberhealing samurai death squads! :goodjob:

If you're going to fight a two-front war you'll definitly want that road up. For the rest, play the way you like, everyone has a different style.

You should connect Mumbai, and after having got your hapiness straight enough for this, build 1 or 2 filler cities in between those 16 road tiles before you connect or (even better) build a harbor in the 16-tiles-away, when it's at coast (and your capital has some coastal connection too, meaning being at coast or road-connected with another coastal city).

A plausible calculation I once read here said, that when capital is size 7 and the other city size 4, a 4-tile road would brake even on Prince+. At lower levels the brake even comes earlier.

The road has begun. In the meantime, I noticed something funky. It says down there that my trading posts will give me +2 gold, +1 science? As far as I can tell my TPs shouldn't be giving me science yet; I'm not even in Renaissance to unlock rationalism yet. And I don't remember anything else that would make TPs give science this early. Is this legit?

Jungle? That at least gives science with a university.

PS.: I ask, because the 'Show' doesn't show me anything. :-(

The worker's on a plains tile with road built on it so far, nothing else. And I don't have education teched either, and I think the uni just makes jungle inherently give 1 sci.

Edit: Fixed it, imageshack sucks, tinypic FTW.

I think so also and don't understand this either.

How did you get it to read ISUTANBURO? Is that a mod or a clever easter egg?

Lol when you go to city view, you can click to edit the city's name. I'm renaming all my acquisitions to more... appropriate names for my empire. :mischief: You should visit Derui sometime. I've also named my Samurai death squads too, but apparently you can only do this when they get a promotion, least as far as I know. Makes it a bit more personalized. C:

Finally got a chance to sit down for a bit and conquer some things, and Darius' pathetic armies got demolished by the Samurai blitz. Poor guy got one Immortal out at the end, or maybe he was saving it as a last stand.

So as it is, I've got all of Darius' cities puppeted except that one up there, Pasargadae. Spare it or puppet?

If I spare it, Lizzy still trades with me, although barely, and the others are denouncing the stinkers out of me but haven't formed the death-to-humans coalition yet. It'll give me time to get my happiness back up, secure my new holdings, and use poor Pasargadae as an XP farm for my nearly promoted Samurai (yamamoto up there is nearly a woodsman!).

If I conquer it, I get pearls instantly, because Darius was so kind as to set up his work boat there. There are pearls everywhere in his kingdom but I can't build workboats without puppeting one of his cities.

Should I puppet for pearls? Or spare for samurai?

If the pearls are a brand new luxury resource for you then I would puppet and cap growth. It sounds like your diplo is already compromised by warmongering so I wouldn't sweat relations with Cathy - she probably won't be too enamoured with you for much longer.
