I'm playing an OCC game and all that is left are the greeks and the egyptians against me the germans.

The greeks and egyptians have a defensive pact. They are ahead of me in tech and starting to build ship parts. My only option left is to mass nuke. I build about 10 nukes, during which the greeks build SDI. No problem. I want to start on the egyptians anyways who are behind the greeks in tech.

boom, boom, I drop 2 nukes on an egyptian city without a problem. Next, I set my sights on a size 20 egyptian city and fire away. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt nukes shot down by the GREEKS sdi!

Is this a bug?

Interesting. Did you have the "Permanent Alliances" option activated? If yes, and if the Greeks and Egyptians made an alliance, then projects like the SDI count for the whole team.

no, I didn't select that option.

I don't know if the greeks had units in the egyptian city and maybe that caused it.. I'll have to check

It seems like SDI may have global effects.
There are plenty of threads where people had complained about this.

No I know the cause for this. The SDI Protects the builders units as well as its cities and territories. So the AI with the SDI probobly had a unit or a spy in the blast zone of your nuke.

The way I learned about it was when I tryed to nuke a naval stack outside anyones borders and my nuke was shot down by someone else. It turned out the enemy with an SDI had a submarine in the blast radius so that civ's SDI was defending its submarine.

Hope this helps clear things up a little :P

I thought that might be it.. doesn't seem like it should function this way though. Maybe firaxis will look into it.
