Is this feature gone? There is no gold coin icon next to the improvement name. How can we get rid of improvements like granaries and barracks after building the Pyramid and SunTzu?

Not sure about after the Pyramids, but you can sell improvements by right-clicking on them.

Cool, thanks! I didn't bother to read the whole manual. :)

Easy answer: Nope, because they don't accumulate culture before the pyramids either. :)

"Gather round, young'uns, and let me tell you about the fabled granary...they say the food in here has provided us with sustenance for over three thousand years...it is truly a great treasure of ours..."

HA! I clearly remember someone from Firaxis stating that city improvements would accumulate culture as well... that was of course a few weeks prior to release.

sigh

No, they didn't say that. We know for a long time that only cultural improvements such as library, university and temple, and Wonders generate culture...

It looks like SunTzu's Art of War is an important wonder: barracks in every city on the continent and never expire!

Can you also heal units in 1 turn and get upgrades in all applicable cities if you have Sun Tzu's?

I like the new barracks, I've actually built a few of them as opposed to Civ II where I never ever built them. Upgrading and healing units makes them worth while, especially if you have Sun Tzu and your on the offensive against someone.

Last night I took over a city, grabbed their lowly cannons and upgraded them to artillery with the help of Sun Tzu's Art of War :)
Of course next turn all my panzers were fully healed and ready take another city.
