Sengoku - Sword of the Shogun, any advice?

you should explore with your starting warrior and your ashigaru and then you should attack all of the barbarians that you can see. By them time you can get shogun-3 you should have a grandmaster ashigaru and daimyo. Upgrade him and then adopt my favoured tactic.

:ar15::sniper:KILL THEM ALL!!!:ar15::sniper:

You shoulds back them up with more ashigaru as you produce them and use the daimyo to take out their defensive units but use the ashigaru to attack their daimyo. My daimyo has been killed by a defnseiev one many times :wallbash:

I won the level before I researched the tech after bushido.

Had to wait twenty turns for my bloody ships to reach my shogun.:wallbash:

I have played as Oda at Regent and it was VERY easy - at the end I was full era ahead of the other clans (only Hojo managed to get Feudalism!), I conquered most of the main island and won by domination. Now I started as Takeda at Monarch. I see it will be more difficult (much more fighting) and I will need to plan carefully but already I have tech lead (2 techs or more) and want to grab Feudalism ASAP.

BTW: in my first game I got an MGL... with my brave Daimyo (sp?)!

Best regards,

Slawomir Stachniewicz.

i always play as the myoshi, i don't know why... i am playing on regent right now, and am engaged in a major war with the Hojo with the Takeda as an ally. so far i have mounted samurai and they have samurai but almost mounted samurai, so i need to go with my earlier tactic: load an armada with a strong army, Burn the capital to the ground.

Guys, do you always win by military means? I played Mori and was doing pretty well, killing foreign settlers, destroying cities and settling myself. But one pretty round the boys builded the "war convent" (german: "Kriegsrat") and I lost...

In English it's the War Council.

I've never lost that way (you HAVE to build that Wonder, even if you want to win militarily, so I set aside a city to prebuild for it quite early), but I've won that way multiple times.

I replayed this senario recently on demi-god level. I played as Hojo but other civs can do as well. My strat was:

Build normally until Feudalism.
Steal techs or buy techs.
Revolt to Feudalism.
Finish cash rushing markets/banks. Don't bother with libraries.
Cities "built" out can produce catapults.

Mobilize and build a yambushi for each resourse and two for each worker. Then start building an army.
->As a side note, I built the Great Library and War Council. I used palace prebuilds for these. I made sure that I had both of these before mobilizing.
Declare war once I have sufficient Yambushi to pilliage the opponents resources.
Invade my opponents land and seige towns.

*Important* Use your first leader to make an Yabushi Army and win a victory off a wounded enemy unit. Rest the Army up and proceed to pilliage 9 tiles per turn... every turn.... At this point you have won. Make all Armies Yambushi and snatch workers at will.

Here is some of my strategory.
Keep your daimyo to fight in the wars.
Upgrade him as high as it can go.
Build barracks in every city. (This is so you can upgrade him, even out in the boonies.)
Get Feudalism ASAP!
Build the War Council, just in case...
On Chieftain and Warlord, go Daimyo-v-Daimyo. They never upgrade theirs.
That's all my strategory! Have fun!

"Of course! Bridges do not fire back."
A bit of wisdom and bad dialogue from MechWarrior 3, heard just before you are attacked by a bunch of Clanners.

Shogun is fun but extremely easy, I win easily on Monarch while in Epic games I'm only a Regent. It's partially because the AIs don't use their strongest units, but also because the AI sucks. I forgive it because the artwork is so beautiful.

Yeah it's fun to get MGL from your Daimyo, in one game I got two or three from him.

ok, if you play below monarch, go on a beeline towards ninjitsu and get some jade in your territory, build about 20 ninjas and position them right outside the enemy capitol, then declare war and attack the daymo, if playing monarch or above, start as one of the guys on the far south island and look for a one tile island, put the best defense you can there and your daymo, only one unit is anphibious, and i belive it's not a very good one in this scenario, so about 10 of your best defenders will hold out against anything they could possibly throw at you, leaving your daymo in your capitol is suicide on monarch and above because they'll march hordes of ninjas at it and kill him before you can even retaliate, if you must leaver your daymo on the main island put a perimiter of the guys who detect ninjas (forget the name, starts with a Y tho) around the city he's in.

The detection unit is the Yamabushi, which is 2/5/2 with all terrain drive so 6 squares a turn. If I remember right Yama means mountain and bushi means warrior. A high level Shogun can also detect ninjas. I have never seen an AI use units more sophisticated than the 6(3)/3/1 Samurai Archer, even when I've completed the tech tree. Takeda have such a great starting position I feel like cheating, anyone recommend anyone else to try next time?
