separate wonders

There should be wonders that you can only get if you are a certain civilization. Such as for america you have the statue of liberty, or the berlin wall for germany, or the aztec pyramids.
 
I don't think Berlin wall deserved to be a wonder... But a good idea. I've been thinking abut this myself.
 
Why would you make the Berlin Wall a wonder? It was a very devisive and traumatic structure? The Berlin Tur, or the Opera House or something along those lines would be more appropriate if you went that route. I think that is just not a good idea.
 
Yeah - something that would help one of the traits of that civ somehow might be cool.

EDIT: That did not have the effect I wanted it to have. Instead, it made me look schizophrenic. I am not schizophrenic, despite the many suspicions. It was my intent to tell advocates of this idea to try TAM.
 
scenarios like Clashing of Empires is sortof like this. Somewonders are only available to christian civs, or to specific civs, or need certain resources only certain civs have access to in the ancient/medieval age or in the city borders. So only, say, china or japan can build the GreaT wall for example. etc. pretty cool for a historic earth, but not for a normal civ game where I WANT to be able to build any wonder and change history ;)

I agree that the wonders they have in civIII should be for all civs but more should be added for new ones.

Also, if you take over an enemy city should you be able to build that civs wonder in that city.

As an addition to your question... If you take over an enemy civ which has already built their unique wonder, should you be able to get the benefit from it?

TAM is 'the Ancient Mediterranean', a wonderful Modpack.

Many of the other modpacks have this feature. Rhye's has this kind of feature, the Egyptians get the Pyramids. Warhammer has an interesting twist, many great wonders are limited to a few civilizations (based on religion, govm't, etc.) Rhye's is recommended if you want a real life experience -- its a pretty amazing mod.

Aaronpark, you should try some of these out. Rhye's, Warhammer, Master of Myrror are all really excellent. So is TAM, and I'm sure others I haven't played are also.

I really don't like the idea of civ-specific wonders. The americans getting the pyramids is exactly the 'what if' that civ is all about.

I don't think we're talking about removing the existing wonders and making them specific. I think it's more about adding one (or more) specific wonder for each civ for more flavor to the game.

Example: The pyramids would still exist but you could add the aztec pyramids (small wonder) who could give some sort of bonus to the aztecs.
 
But that still goes against the 'what if' that Civ is all about.

Now, government specific wonders, trait specific wonders, that's fine. Rise and Rule does the GS wonders/improvements, and that works out just fine, IMO. But the whole concept of Civ, since the first one, has been about 'what if', and to have civ specific wonders just goes against that basic tenet of Civ.
 
Berlin wall? I'd rather make Breaking down of Berlin wall a GW, which could reunite every city taken away by other civs through military actions or culture flippings. This would be a nice one for those pure builders, right? And even warmongers must rush to have this GW also, coz if they don't, they will lose some conquered cities to other civ once that civ build this GW.
