Sequence of Govenors

I seem to alternate between Liang and Magnus first. With the nerf to Magnus, I'll probably use Liang more. I really like getting the extra charge, since early I tend to like to get a bunch of plantations/mines/etc... going early, and save more of the chopping for when they're worth more. Maybe not always the "best" thing to do, but I like having well developed land. Something satisfying about making sure that all my resources are developed.

It would be a simple and logical change for them to just have Victor exert more pressure in a city than the other governors, since database side the ability to do that is already there and the UI to display the loyalty pressure each governor exerts already exists. Maybe even reduce the positive pressure the others exert, to around 6 (down from 8). I could easily see the game working well with all the other governors exerting +6 (or even just +4) loyalty and Victor exterting +6, +8 or +10.

How quickly do you get your first governor? I find that I'm not getting one until turn 60+ since the civic research takes forever. Normally I choose Magnus or Reyna, but I'm going to try Liang after seeing the comments here.

(Multiplayer, online speed)

Magnus first. Then Reyna level 3 in a city with boosted with a commercial hub coupled with a gov plaza. The idea is to reach 40-50 gpt after 40-50 turns. This is crucial to buy best tiles right away and to get enough gold for a knight rush. It's probably the most powerful approach. I've seen many streamers and the few ones that actually follow this path usually get the best stats after 60 turns.

Am i the only one to see Liang as useless?

But i can see Reyna less useful in singleplayer because you can get gold in more fashion ways(trading, pillaging, game speed, etc.)

Not sure about the MP - I assume these games are mostly about human players kicking each other's backsides militarily, so in this context may be. In a SP game a builder charge is a builder charge, always nice to have more of those. I rarely promote him past that though. (You build government plaza buildings only once per game, and the city center ones are cheap anyway, by the time you get to the district building promotion you may already have a 'what else do I build?' problem, so you may not want to actually build things faster :D )

her. :D

I do pick up Aquaculture later in the game. The other promotions are useless as you said.
