SevoMod 3

One thing that has always irritated me in Civilization is the sole reliance on coal to build railroads. It seems to me that oil and maybe even the Electricity technology should also allow one to build railroads.

It seems a bit much that you can build fleets, aircraft and spaceships, but are reduced to dirt roads if you can't find, buy or steal a little coal.

I'm not sure if you can INCLUSIVE OR strategic resources in the new engine, but if you can, maybe SevoMod is the place to try it out.

Just a thought.

Hello Keldath

Now that patch C is out, what about your MOD ?

Is it still compatible ?

I'm asking because GIR released a 3.0C mod so I figured
the combined MOD is not.

I enjoyed the RaR mod too my only concern with the tourism idea is build early and get an advantage throughout the entire game.I also felt they went to far in RaR and added too much it is something Sevo has avoided well so far.

Been playing Titan Quest the last few days feels odd to go beneath the Partheon and to meet Imhotep.Good laugh for anyone who enjoyed Diablo 2 it is basically a straight rippoff but with tons better graphics and a larger quest area.

It would definitely give you more of an advantage in Sevomod as the wonders don't go obsolete so quickly. In RaR, wonders went obsolete very quickly and there were more of them. But, I think that this will give you an added benefit to buildiung Stonehenge, for example. Plus, I only can build a percentage of the wonders so this benefits the AI also.

fairchild republic is a "national" wonder? is that right?

See if this file is still up. :)

Now, that's interesting. When I install the zipfile patch download you link to, I go from 3.0a (which was my last patch) to 3.0b, despite the title of the zipped patch. I've downloaded and installed it twice, just to be sure.

I was told that if it reads (b), you have the correct patch. Just a mishap in the world of Sevo's mod. No worries though.

On the other hand, I just played my first game in awhile. I always play w/ a random civ and ended up w/ Japan. I get about 50 turns into the game and I get hit w/ 5, YES 5 sets of Barbs and Japan gets toppled. Those sons of _____!!! !!! Man, I just love this game!

A possible solution to the Spearman debate:

This mostly comes from the Extended Mod from Gnart with some slight modification by me.

Split spearman into an Early "Warrior with a longer pointyer stick" and a later "beefy metal clad spearman". The former would be strength 3 with +50% vs Mounted and possibly another bonus like City defence or Melle. Cost would be near that of an Archer or cheaper, he requires no resorces. Gnart has a nice Unit art for this guy.

The later Spearman would be called by a new name probly Phalax or Hoplite (what ever avoids conflict witht he Greek unit). Power would be 4, with +75% vs Mounted and 25% vs Melle (more of a general purpose unit), cost sligtly incressed and Copper/Iron requirement is retained. Avalible with a new (well actualy old) "Warrior Code" Tech which also takes up the Barracks and Slavery to become a major military Tech. Warrior Code prerequisites are BW or Archery.

AxeMen could also get a reduction to 4 Power with +75% vs Melle, still strong but not unstopable and more specialized.

samson01234 - assuming you have Windows XP, hold the Windows key and hit "M" to minimise programs and get back to the desktop. Civ 4 is better behaved than a lot of other games for being able to be minimised without crashing! This works fine for me on my PC and laptop... but I imagine it's possible to have troubles resuming the game depending on what sound and video drivers are installed.

I agree. Coal is not the be-all and end-all of trains. In the modern era certainly, more trains are electric or diesel.

Hello

I have IMPORTANT question about gameplay.

Does Sevomod change AI behavior? I ask becouse I have played 2 times Sevomod (versions 2.x) and always AI was VERY passive and stupid. How come?
Was it fault of sevomod ?
