Since it looks like CTR6 isn't going to garner enough interest to start ( ), I was wondering if the following SG was possible:

31 Civs on a gi-normous map. Played at Monarch (Regent?) level. Only victory condition enabled: Conquest. Variant rule: Can not declare war on another Civ until the max 512 cities has been built. Then the player can declare war, and must raze each city (can't capture any), and immediately settle to bring back up to max (doesn't have to be in exact same spot). Rinse, repeat, until game ends (# of turns would be extended so as to not hit the Histograph at the end).

What do the more experienced SG players think? Too long, too hard, too dumb, too many IT hours, etc.?

Have you every played this large?

My world map game that is smaller then this, and takes 1+ hours per turn later on. One of these at a time is my max, so don't look for me to sign up.

In addition, you have K9 going at this same size, and that ties up more players for a map this size.

I doubt you could get enough players for this.

Presume it's not an SG, or that enough players would be interested. Would it be a workable scenario?

I personally don't like modded games . It's a pity you don't want to start something regular on Monarch or emperor level , I would join .

Have a look at K8. That was a huge game and at the end a number of players cried for a UN victory. At that point turns indeed took 1+ hours (for me, I didn't play war-turns!) and we only managed to get about 15% of the world.
