SGOTM 01 - madviking

Lobsterboy! Sorry about that, that's two turnsets you played at the end where that happened! I woke up early and thought I'd better keep an eye on it. Anyway, thanks for all your help this game, you pulled us out of the fire a number of times... and you weren't afraid to make the big decisions, like aborting our poor attempts at invasions before they got completely steamrolled. We'd have had a much harder time of this without you, I doubt we would have finished without your prodding :goodjob: ... Best of Luck with SGOTM02!

I've posted the save on the GOTM page, but I think it won't show on the scoring page cause the game is still underway (just)... If you want to look at the save before the results are posted then I've attached it here... Woops, apparently I can't cause it's bigger than 500kb... hang on... Nope it looks like without doing something tricky, like zipping it up and renaming it to .txt I won't be able to post it... I did get a screen saying that the game status was complete with a diplomatic victory for us. And Gyathaar's come by to say we won, so presumably it's all cool...

Well done madvikings

You certainly take deadlines to the wire, don't you ! I'll post the results now.

BTW: In case anyone was wondering, here's how my turns went:

Spoiler :
Preturn check (1928 AD)
We still have a Great Artist in Thebes! Need to culture bomb him somewhere. I think Macchu Picchu, rather than Saladin's old hunting grounds, because of the potential to flip St. Louis and Miami.

Relations with Roosevelt are +5, so I think that the chances of him declaring war on us are small.

1929 AD
Medicine in. We can now revolt to Environmentalism and build Hospitals for extra Health!

1930 AD
Build 3 new cities.
Drop the Culture Bomb in Macchu Picchu. St. Louis is not affected , but Miami is almost completely surrounded by Egyptian culture! :yeah:

Diplomatic V-I-C-T-O-R-Y ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

It's a good think that we didn't try a quick strike to take any land/population from Roosevelt. Gandhi would have crushed us!

Oh golly Lobsterboy....I can't believe you got cross-played again! Bummer! :( I guess its really important to post an instantaneous "I got it now" in lieu of something like "I'll play in a few hours". Never knew verb tense could cause so much frustration, eh?! So sorry. Your turn log looked great though, nice job! And you had the satisfaction of victory, woohoo!

So I assume you've all seen the results page. Number 17 of 17 victories. How funny! I tell you, though, I'm thrilled to have victory at any turn. We'll have to reconvene for another SGOTM and go for the "most improved" award.

Now I'm eager to read all the other team threads and see where we went wrong....I have an awful hunch that my old "population=power" mantra will play heavily in this. I feel that we expanded to fast before we grew a big enough base. But hey, I learned a tiny bit about city attacks. And a lot about how NOT to execute attacks. Thanks for showing me the ropes everyone. It was great fun!

Good luck in all that you do, and I hope to cross paths with each of you again soon!

Best,
Elandra

 Yeah, my fault. It's difficult for me to get online from home after ~ 9:00 PM because our computer is still in my 3 year-old's bedroom. I didn't think that Sock would wake up before I had a chance to finish. Oh well. I only lost a few hours of sleep! :)
